Are any of you pnemonectomy survivors having a hard time breathing? I had the pnemonectomy done in 1999, along with a total abdominal hysterectomy for 2 different types of cancer. I am now going through my 4th battle with lung cancer and I am having more trouble breathing than usual. I also have COPD. I find that the slightest exersion and I am gasping for air. Is this common? Thank you Anne Cuozzo

    Hello,

You may want to consider contacting the American Cancer Society's National Cancer Information Center. Cancer Information Specialists are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and may be able to assist you in finding other survivors. They can be contacted at 1-800-227-2345.

I hope this information has been helpful.

    All the best,

    Hi Anne,
New to the site, just had my pneumonectomy done Sept. 2004. I was diagnosed with a "Carcinoid Tumor" in my right lung and it was very large. The decision to take out the whole lung was made during the surgery, so I was not ready for what was next, the shortness of breath, the limited mobility, the dizziness, etc. So, yes it is very hard to breathe now. I hope and pray that you will remember, that the battle is not yours, it's the Lords. Neshel
