Hi everyone! My husband is starting chemo in about 3 weeks, but in the meantime, we are following the Moerman Therapy Cancer Diet (book was sent to us from Canada). It is an immune system BOOSTER basically, and is proven to cure some cancers. It's worth a try, and we will continue throughout Chemo and afterwards as well. Has anyone else heard of it..and if so, do you know if nuts were allowed in the diet. It doesn't say either way, but I don't want to assume. There's no meat in this diet, nor fish. Basically just vegetables, fruits, and a few whole grain products allowed. Common sense and the old fashioned "healthier" way of eating. Does anyone know about if nuts are allowed? Like Cashews, almonds etc. Thanks!

While the American Cancer Society does not have information on Dr. Moerman's cancer diet, we do have nutrition information for cancer patients. You might wish to review our information on the Society's website at: http://www.cancer.org/docroot/MBC/MBC_6.asp?sitearea=ETO

In addition to researching nutrition information, your healthcare provider or a specialist, such as a nutritionist or dietitian, might be the best person to discuss good nutrition options with while your husband is undergoing treatment.

You can also reach a Cancer Information Specialist at the American Cancer Society 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by calling us at 1-800-ACS-2345 or visting us through the "Contact ACS" link at the top of this page. We can provide you with information on various issues that cancer patients face, including treatment, nutrition, side effects, etc. We can also search for community resources in your area, such as support groups, transportation assistance, lodging, referrals to other organizations, etc.
