Good Afternoon! I am working with my local Relay for Life, and I am one of the chair's for the Survivor events that will be taking place. I would encourage anyone to attend their local Relay for Life event. My family has been touched multiple times with cancer, and RFL has been a great way for us to Celebrate, Remember, and Fight Back. During the relay we are doing a Surivor Lap (where all the survivor's that are present will walk a lap by themselves while everyone cheers them on) and we will be doing a caregiver lap (where the caregivers join the survivors to walk a lap). I am trying to put together songs for each of these laps, but I am having a hard time coming up with enough songs to fill the time that it will take to walk each lap. Does anyone have suggestions for either?

    Also
of course "I Will Survive" by ?? (I don't pay enough attention to who is performing!).

I'm co-chair this year of our Relay For Life, and these are wonderful suggestions. I'll pass them on to my program organizer. We always have a Survivor's Lap, and it's a wonderful feeling to have everyone crowded around the track cheering for you. If you've never gone, I second Anelkin's suggestion that you make this the year to be there. And stay for the lighting of the luminaries as it gets dark; tears and joyful feelings at the same time.

    This Is The Moment. It's
This Is The Moment. It's from the musical Jekkyl and Hyde and here are the words.
    This is the moment
    This is the day
When I send all my doubts and demons on their way
Every endeavour I have made ever is coming into play
    Is here and now today
    This is the moment
    This is the time
When the mometum and the moment are in rhyme
Give me this moment, this precious chance
I'll gather up my past and make some sense at last
    This is the moment
    When all I've done
All of the dreaming, scheming and screaming become one.
    This is the day
    See it sparkle and shine
When all I've lived for becomes mine
For all these years I've faced the world alone
And now the time has come to prove to them I made it on my own
    This is the moment
    My final test
Destiny beckoned - I never reckoned second best
    I won't look down
    I must not fall
    This is the moment
The sweetest moment of them all
    This is the moment
    Damn all the odds!
This day or never, I'll sit forever with the Gods!
    When I look back
    I will always recall
    Moment for moment
    This was the moment
    The greatest moment
    Of them all!
I love all of the other suggestions as well. I also think Because I Knew You from Wicked would be so perfect especially for the caregivers.

Thank you MollyZ :) mom's doing well! Her first appt for rads will be sometime next week, she has 6 and 1/2 weeks. She's finally starting to feel better after chemo -still tired & weak, but that's such an improvement for her, chemo kicked her butt.
Our relay meeting tonight was great, I'm so proud of my little girl getting up there & talking!

I heard this going thru chemo and it became my "chemo" song.
    Also "Eye of the Tiger"

My neice put together a CD for me she called "Aunt Sher's Feeling Good CD" These are the songs I liked the best:
    I Feel Fine: Emily Elbert
    Stronger: Emmanuel Jal
Put Your Records On: Corinne Bailey Rae---Had my head shaved to this song
    Don't You Worry Bout A Thing:Stevie Wonder
The Way You do the Things You Do: The Temptations

    This is a great idea.
