I am new to this board. I thought I should share with what I am doing to prevent reoccurrance in case it can help someone else. First let me tell you my story. I was diagnosed in July 08. I had severe stomach pain and they found that cancer had perforated my colon. I had no symptons prior to this. They later found it had spread to my liver and a lymph node in my neck. I had to wear a colostomy bag for 6 months, which has been the worst part of this ordeal so far. I had 9 rounds of Folfox/Avastin before the neuropaphy became too bad that we had to stop. I still have some numbness in my feet. A PET scan showed that my tumors had disappeared. I then had my colon reconnected and was able to get rid of the hated bag. My doctor said that there would be a 95% chance that the cancer would return. I asked him what I could do prevent reoccurance. He told me exercise. That was no problem for me as I have always exercised. I decided at that time to find out all I could about preventing cancer reoccurrance. I read the "Anti-Cancer" book and kept my eyes open to any knews about preventing cancer. I decide to take a shotgun approach and incorporate every practical and sensible idea I could find in hopes that I could prevent reoccurance. The following is what I do:

Exercise 3 hours per day
Every morning walk 1 hr followed by .5 hr yoga
MWF 1 hr weightlifting
T Th Sat- 1 hr running
Every afternoon walk .5 hr

Follow a Mediterrian diet, green tea twice a day and use alot of tumerric and garlic.

Take the following supplements: Aspirin, Vitamin D, resviratrol, multi vitamin, fish
oil

So far it has been working but I still have three years to go before I am considered "cured". If anybody kows of anything else that I should be trying or if anyone else is doing something similar I would appreciate your feedback. Thanks

I did not get my liver
I did not get my liver operated on because my tumor had disappeared. My original plan was to operate on my liver after chemo, but since my tumor was gone there was nothing to operate on. If my tumor comes back I am sure my doctor will want to operate.

    What about Q-10?
Co-Enzyme Q-10 is supposed to be a good antioxident I think we all should be taking, once approved by onc.....Exercise has been reported to be vital in living with CRC.....steve

Congrats Randy, sounds like you are on the right track. Like Steve, I am a big fan of Coenzyme CO-Q10. There is alot of evidence it is beneficial to cancer patients at any stage. Look it up...
    Best luck on staying NED.

    Randy -
I got to the part that said:

    "MWF 1 hr weightlifting"

And I was wondering if I could use a single girl, instead
    of a married white female?

I do think it's something I'd like to try!

    Thanks,

    John

I do something like that, except not so much. I think your regimen will be good for your health. I have my doubts that it will actually lower the chances of a recurrence, but if your health is robust, you'll be better able to withstand any hypothetical future treatment for a possible recurrence.

    Tumor size
Tina I don't know the size of my colon tumor, but it must have been big to perforate the colon. The tumor in my liver was around 1 cm. The one in my neck was not near a main artery. Randy
