    one big hot mess
I'll try to make this short because my mind is mush and the adult beverage is kicking in.

Found a new doc group that operates out of staten island and made an appt, also left a msg w the doc we will be seeing tmw; went up to orig doc's ofc and got the PET and CT reports and images, also got a prescription for percocet at his request. He's been drinking out of a straw b/c he can't move his head AT ALL. Got home got a call from the new doc, who in essence told me "I don't know how I can help you." All the while he is texting me asking when I'll come home he doesn't like being by himself if something happens he's f^%&^$d.

Some good happened today. Got in touch with someone from the local ACS ofc. I now have tons more homework to do, but at least I have a direction to go in instead of feeling like I'm drowning.

Also the pastor my dad had called and asked to come out to visit called me. Not sure how this will work since hubby is a recovering Catholic ha ha ha.

See how the appt goes tmw. I hope he feels better soon.

    P.S.
I read the PET and CT report.

It's scaring the daylights out of me. There seems to be a lot that orig doc didn't tell me.

I know it can be overwhelming. I am very happy that you contacted the ACS and are meeting with the pastor. I will be blunt. There was a time in my life when I was struggling and had too much pride to ask for help, but I had to reach out and let someone know what my needs were or else I wasn't going to be Able to finish school. I finished school. Don't feel bad about asking for help! Itks nothing wrong with it, just pass the deed on when you are able. Someone helped me and now I mentor young adults.

...if I join in here. I have many of the same overwhelming feelings that you do (my significant other has stage 4 lung cancer) and although he is not in as bad shape as your husband seems to be I fear he will be soon enough--I too read a CT/MRI report today that scared the s--t out of me. I just wanted to say that I live in NYC and if you need anything, help locating resources, someone to talk to, etc, please let me know.

    amazed
I am in awe and am so humbled by the help I am recieving as a result of the nu-voices group I'm starting to meet with once a month. They are a group of laryngectomees and cancer survivors who have had vocal chord issues. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't have gotten the phone call, gotten the advice and help I have, and wouldn't have had the courage to seek out a new doc.

The new doc is someone I like and someone my husband likes (BIG PLUS). He's been up front honest and gave me all the info I needed to help Pat.

Not sure if things will work out the way I want, but I have all the tools available to me now.

Also got a call from a work buddy of his about an oncologist he is seeing for a different issue.

    Hi Neighbor!
wijik@yahoo.com drop me a line. At the very least maybe we can meet up for coffee and kvetch for a while. No one understands like a fellow caregiver.
