I'm 23 years old, and in August of this year I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, after being sick for a year and a half. I've been doing really well since I've started my chemo, I have 8 done now, and 4 left to go (and I still have my hair). December 6th, I will be having my first CT scan since I've started my chemo, very exciting!! I'm hoping that everything will turn out really well!! Wish me luck!!

    Welcome!
Welcome to this sight! You'll find a lot of support here, glad you found it. I have Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. I don't know too much about Hodgkins except that I understand it can be extremely curable!!! Yay!! Also, my sister had it at the age of 16 (over 40 years ago) and even back then, they cured her with radiation ! (They didn't have chemo back then) Hodgkins seems to effect younger people where Non-Hodgkins usually bothers those around 60 years old. It's hard to be sick and I am sorry this is happening to you. But... I feel very optimistic about your treatment and your CT scan on the 6th. I will keep you in my prayers and will especially think of you on that big day and will hope for very positive results! Hang tough - you can do this! Stay in touch and let us know how it's going.

Oh, I'm also very happy about your hair!! It's very pretty. :)

    Love and good wishes,
    Donna

    CT SCAN
    Joetta,
Welcome to the discussion board first of all. I know its not the place you want to be,but you will find some great and informative people on here. You will recieve a lot of responses from those caring and concerned people as the days go by. You may never meet these people, but they will feel like your family. I am glad you are feeling better since your chemo. I am assuming you are talking about rads and chemo. I was diagnosed in May,2010 with NHL and am now in remission. It was a rough road with me and a lot of others on here during the treatments but it was worth it.I had r-cvp chemo,no rads. What kind of chemo did you have that did not take your hair out? I know r-chop and r-cvp will do a number on the hair. I am sure your ct scan will be fine. You are so right about the bump in the road part. It is not like it was a long time ago. Your expressions page tells it all except if you have Hodgkins or non hodgkins Keep us posted. John(FOLLICULAR NHL-GRADE1-STAGE4-DIAGNOSED IN MAY,2010)REMISSION

Welcome on board! I am glad you posted here. I also found out I have Hodgkins on Aug. 6th and just completed 8th chemo - also 4 more to go. I will have CAT and PET scans this Thurs. So let's hope for the best news!! The difference between us is our age - am 54 but I always have been healthy so hope I also do well with treatment.

With positive thoughts and praying for you,
    Liz

    CT Scan
I had my scan and my doctor was quite pleased. My mass has gone from being 10cm by 15cm to 5cm by 10 cm. It looks as if I am going to have to get an extra four treatments, but that's normal. Also, he said that some of it may be caused by scars, so I will have to get a PET scan soon, just to double check things, and make sure there's no Hodgkin's hiding away somewhere. But I am really happy that my scan went so well!!

    Great News!!!!
    Joetta,
That is great news about the tumor shrinkage. If there is anything hiding in there the PET scan will find it. Just keep us updated about any progress or just anything that may come to mind. We are here for you. John(FNHL-1-4A-5/10)

That is great to hear!! Very encouraging!! You did hard work healing and so you will succeed through this treatment. Congrats!

Still have to wait until this Tuesday to hear the results which is a real drag to wait... huh!

May your next chemo treatment treat you gently.

    Treatments
    Liz,
It seemed to me the farther along I got with my treatments the shorter the time it took for come around. I guess it was because there was less and less up days. Seemed I was just starting to feel a little enery and it was time for the next session. By the time I got to #6 it seemed I had no enery at all so the time between #5 and #6 flew by. Then the waiting for just a couple of days to drag into the pet scan seemed to take a long time. Then I had to wait a week for the results(I was to worn down to go to the lab to pick them up)and that took forever. John(FNHL-1-4A-5/10) REMISSION

    Sooo true!
    Hi John,
You hit the nail on the head! All of my infusions have been done on a Tuesday, so from day one I always spent Monday doing a good cleaning. I disinfect the bathroom, wash the sheets, mop, dust, vacumn, and in general just get everything done for the up-coming week when I'm on the nasty pred. After round 4 I was so tired still when the weekend before chemo rolled around, that I knew I was going to have to do my pre-chemo cleaning over a period of days, (starting on Friday), instead of hitting it all on Monday like I usually did. Last night I told Steve all of things I wanted to get done before Tuesday and said I just didn't feel up to doing any of it. Now, here it is Friday already and I haven't had one day since round 5 where I could do anything other than itsy bitsy chores that still knocked me on my butt are after doing them! So....Steve said he will get most of the stuff done for me this weekend and then on Monday my oldest son Charley is going to come and do the last minute stuff like disinfect the bathroom and washing the sheets. It's hard to see others doing what was always so easy for me to do, but..."it is what it is" and I just have to learn to accept it. I think part of the reason I got so down and edgy last week was knowing the 21 days was almost over and it felt like it just went by so darn fast! It's frustrating as all get out when your not 1/4 the person you use to be...sigh! Oh well...Tuesday is the last one(knock on wood)..."YIPPEE"!!!!

    Down and Out
    Sue,
I know exactly how you feel It makes you start to wonder if it will ever get any better. You feel like if you get any weaker you will die. I know all about that. It will get better, but not all at once. The last treatment will knock you down even more. You will feel like sh*t for a month afterwards. You should start to notice a little bit of enery starting to come back after a couple of weeks, but still be tired. It is really gradual getting back to the real normal energy level. It will come with time. I am probably 90-95% back now. My last treatment was Sept.28.So you see it does take a while. We have to remember our bodies were slammed to the ground and then kicked while we were down. You remember that bus in the beginning and how it came around not long after our earlier treatments. Well now it seems to hang around the corner waiting for us to stand up so it can come back again. This time it won't let up. The only way to fight it now is to keep a low profile during the day and night too. It will not take much to get that bus revved up again.hahahaha!! I hope this doesn't print a bunch of times like it did this morning when I responded to Roya.I saw all those printings and thought what the heck!!!!! Don't know what happened there. Just take it easy. John(FNHL-1-4A-5/10)
