Another wonderful new experience today...breast MRI....and I broke the computer...ROFL!

So, THIS is an interesting test...lol!!! Especially for me, who can't raise my arms above my head for very long because of a 'frozen' shoulder...

And then, after many minutes of banging...silence....then the voice of the tech comes on and says "Now I need to reboot the computer, it has developed a glitch...just lie still for...10 to 15 minutes (!?!?!?!?) while it comes back up." I said "I can't barely wait any longer, is there a way, if I promise NOT to move my breasts, that I can lower my arms....PLEASE????"

Believe it or not, I did it...they pulled me out, and let me 'dangle' my arms while they fixed the computer...sigh...

It seems I'm REALLY good at crashing computers...during the rads for my rectal cancer, the whole room went dark. And, for those of you who have not had the thrill of radiation treatments...let me say dark means PITCH black!!!!. A voice came over the intercom (behind 2 feet of shielded wall) and said "The computer needs to be rebooted, hold on!". I offered to come out and fix it for her (being a computer consultant), but she declined. Then I said "Well, I can be patient...please make sure that before we start up again, that you make sure the correct program is loaded. I would really HATE to get my ovaries (at that point, I still had them..lol) radiated instead of my rectum!"

Hugs, Kathi

    Not the first...

    Do -not- feel bad.

It absolutely -was not- the first boob to botch up a computer.

Glad they were able to pull you out, Kathi. The power went out on my ex-bosses first MRI. He screamed like a baby and ever after he had to be heavily sedated to get an MRI.

Glad they were able to reboot the thing.Hope all comes out looking good.

    Too funny
Hey Kathi - Sounds like your boobs and your butt have some special power. Perhaps you have a secret super hero alter ego thing going that you haven't told us about? Don't worry. Your secret is safe with me.

"Able to crash evil computers with a fling of her boobs and stop evil radiation with wiggle of her butt. It's Super KathiM!!!"

    Wow!
It must be your electric personality that causes all those computer crashes!

What was that tech thinking to tell you to lay still for 10 to 15 mins? Hard enough to do in a comfortable position, much less one that is causing you discomfort.

Glad they relented and let you get some 'hang time' while they got the machine back on its legs.

Hope all is well with the test.

    Hugs,

    Marie

What in the world? *L* If I had an experience like that, I would scream. I cannot tolerate being in pitch black darkness!

First thing to come to my mind was 2100 A Space Odyssey. They could have used you to take HAL out.

This was actually the 2nd attempt...
The first was in another facility...the gal poked around in my arm for 3 mintues, looking for a vein, and then had no regard for my comfort...the pillow kept inching forward and pulling my arms further...

I made them stop the scan....

YIKES! How awful for your boss....
I guess the new MRI's are just a ring, not a tunnel...

I've never had trouble with that, as long as I'm comfortable, I'm ok....the MRI for my head had me all the way in, and I just fell asleep...the trick is to keep your eyes closed even before you get inside...

Imagine a stretchy outfit, half blue (colorectal), half pink (breast)...with a ';' on the front...a semi-super hero!!!!

I think I learned to crash them to keep my business (computer consult) alive...and then just got too darn good!!!

    Aw, Marie...thanks!
I, being a strong outspoken semi-colon, spoke up when it got bad....you guys are SUCH an inspiration to me!!!

This is a new scan, designed for 'high risk' breast cancer patients, such as myself...but I will say I felt a bit like a milk cow in a stall...there were holders that my boobs fit into, to make them hang down (thus the need for full extension with my arms up...).

The embarassing stuff we warriors are forced to put up with...lol...still, I'll choose this stuff over the alternative, anytime (HEAR that grim reaper???? Get your booty AWAY!!!).

    Gail

I was lucky....my chemo had been started right before...
    ...so I was high on anti-nausea meds...lol!!!

I remember feeling it was sort of cool...this detached voice talking to me in the dark...luckily, in a bit, the emergency lights (believe it or not, like little stars in the ceiling, which is normally painted like the sky) came on...and I REALLY tripped!!
