First off I wanted to say thanks to all of you who came by my earlier post. Know that all your comments, advise, and friendly words of encouragement are greatly appreciated. I feel all warm and fuzzy inside and not as scared as I was when I came aboard.

I just wanted to update on some results that I had mentioned that I was getting back today. Some good news - the thyroid was non-cancerous YEAH! However, they did diagnose me with Hoshimotos (what a strange name). I knew that there was some wacky stuff going on with my thyroid so I'm glad that I have finally rec'd a diagnosis and they can start adjusting my meds. Confirmed that I'm defintely in menopause from the chemo 9 years ago - imagine that LOL... so they are going to test for any bone loss ect... that goes along with all the menofun!

So now its just these darn swollen glands. I get checked by the ENT on Friday and then will follow-up with my Onco Doc on Monday. So another anxious weekend in store for this chick. But all in all I'm blessed for the good news today ~ I will take that and run. Hugs ~ Andrea (Hodgkins stage4 - remission)

    Andrea,
    I know very,very

    Andrea,
I know very, very little about Hoshimotos disease. All I know is that it is connected with the thyroid. Maybe look up on the computer medical dictionary what it is. Not the websites whatever you do. It does look pretty good so far,but got to find about those swollen glands. Yes, it will seem like a month getting thru the weekend, but you will get thru it and we will all be here behind you hoping for great results. John (FNHL-1-4A-5/10)

    Meno world
I feel for you, I am there too. What a gift from chemo. Hot flashes are much easier to deal with in the winter time....go stand in the sliding glass door naked at night...instant relief LOL.

I take effexor for hotflashes and it reduces them by 60%. I couldn't live without it.

    Take care,
    Beth

    Thyroid
Andrea, I was diagnosed with Hoshimoto's in 1980. They doctors had a difficult time regulating my levels. As you may know, hoshimoto's is an autoimmune disorder, as the body attempts to destroy it, the gland can secrete hormone at inconsistent levels. My thyroid became enlarged, with nodules and the inflammatory response from the autoimmune reaction. This process caused my voice to change and the enlarged gland caused pressure on my trachea causing discomfort; no cancer. These symptoms along with the difficulty regulating my levels led to a thyroidectomy in 1998...I felt great once it was removed and my levels could finally be adjusted! Active Hoshimoto's was just heck, I hated it! Kellie

    Hoshi's
I'll probably go find a Hoshi board and see whats up. I've done a lot of reading about Thryoid and Hoshi so I'm pretty well aware of what it is and where I'm going. I know its just an ongoing battle to keep the thyroid balanced. However, I'll take Hosi over any cancer any day! Thanks John for the well wishes for the whole gland thing and the next round of doctor appts.... Not getting much sleep these days :(

    Hi Kellie
From what you have written I'm sure you are an expert at the whole thryoid battle! It really does suck and not many people really understand what we go through with all the ups and downs and side affects. I went hypo after chemo, then just recently went hyper because the doc was over-medicating and then they found the Hoshi's... but its just another one of those things that we have to continue to take one day at a time. Actually, my voice has changed too, its raspy and sometimes words don't come out. Not good when I go to answer the phone at work LOL.... however, some people find it a blessing that I lose my voice from time to time ahahaha! I've heard that once someone gets the thyroid removed they feel so much better. But for now me and my thyroid must learn to get along with each other. I'm sure once they can get my meds adjusted I'll start feeling better. Thanks for coming by and sharing. Stay in touch....us thyroid crazies must stick together :) Hugs - Andrea

    Amazing!
They do resemble each other - that is too cool! Your grandbaby is adorable and the car SWEET! I will have to post the mustang sometime soon so come back and check to see if it is there. ;)

Well I went and saw the ENT last Thurs (he was the doc that diagnosed my Hodgkins the first go round) and he said that by what he could see/feel he was not concerned, but that he would wait and see what my cancer doc had to say and he would go with whatever biopsy or removal if necessary but was pretty sure that everything looked fine and the swollen glands were not big enough right now to make him think any differently WHEW that was a relief. Saw the onco doc just Monday and he too felt like everything was fine and that I looked healthy, glands were not of any concern and that he thought the itching and other symptoms could be related to my ongoing battle with my thyroid and hoshimotos. He did, however, order a full abdominal u/s and a chest x-ray and a sed-rate blood test. He said that he believes everything would be fine, but a good idea just to do some tests to rule out anything that could be hiding. He gave me a hi-5 on my 10 years out...and all this time I thought I was only 8 going on 9 - where does time go? LOL.... I hope all is well with you and you are feeling a little bit "normal" again :) Thanks for keeping in touch and I will let you know of the test results. Have a great evening my friend! Andrea

    SOUNDS GOOD!!!!
    Andrea,
That is great news you are actually 10 tears out. Sounds good what the docs say as well. Still have to have it checked though. I was telling my son about how much the 2 babies look alike and he said "I wonder if that ladys grandbaby has a mouth as big as Katies" He said when she screams it will give you a headache. It struck me kinda funny. They forget how big their mouths were when they were growing up.HAHAHA. I will be thinking of you in the days to come and hope all turns out Okay. John (FNHL-1-4A-5/10)
PS... I will be watching for the Mustang

    Mustang and Mouth
John, Tell your son yes I've had several headaches after babysitting my grandbaby, she sure has a good set of lungs, since birth! LOL.... Ya 10 years, my jaw about dropped when he told me, but it made me feel good, he said the more years the better that it will stay in remission. I hope he is right!

I posted the Mustang.... Wish the weather was nicer (cold and snowy) because when I see her parked in the garage both me and boyfriend get the itch to take her for a spin (no pun intended on the itchy thing) :)

Stay Warm and Well my friend,

    Andrea
