does anyone have a little notebook and take notes of people on the forum? Some of you.....(craig) whose name shall go unnamed seem to remember everything. This is such a nice thing when people remember others` chemo regime or surgery dates etc.

I feel in such a fog sometimes I wonder if you do because I like to.

just askin :):)

    I wish I had
I was just going back over some of the older posts and got to thinking that there are a bunch of folks we haven't heard from recently. Hope they are well.

I don't really take notes ... well maybe I do, now. I always have my outlook open and when someone mentions a procedure, now I put it on that calendar and on that day it pops up to remind me. I don't really do it with regimes ... before chemo everyone said I had a photographic memory but, I noticed that I get a bit foggy for a few days with the chemo so I do that now just in case. I do keep a prayer/meditation list on my computer for people. Ah Ha! ... Inquiring minds want to know ... Now you know what's working for me.

    My Memory
I just try and keep up with my noggin':)

The day that goes, I'll be less than I am today.

I talked to my onc the other day about "chemo brain." He told me that medically, this condition does not EXIST. He told me it's AGE and that with cancer, that our memory fading or fogginess is a result of that.

I told him that we will agree to disagree - after all how many rounds of chemo has this guy done compared to me. That's right - a bunch for me and none for him.

I told him it was one of the perks to having this "benefit" to use when you whip out your cancer card, LOL:)

I feel very lucky to still have a good memory - I remember what I read on the board and I certainly remember what we've ever said to each other.

Now, what was the question? LOL:)

    Sometimes I open a word
Sometimes I open a word document and copy from the forum and paste it to the word document, if it is good information. Then we printi ti out and put it in my moms medical binder.stuff like how to deal with dental issues, sore feet, dry skin etc is very helpful. Then if she eXperiences those things we kind of refer to the information. We always discuss the information with her doctor.

    Hey Craig
I didn't have any problems before starting chemo at all, just the opposite, mind like a whatever. And I don't really have what I think chemo brain is. but, for the first few days after infusion I do get a little foggy. It goes away though. Hope it stays that way!

    noggin
oh no I knew you would say that.....use the noggin.....hahah good for you Craig.....I believe you do remember each and everything that people say to one another.

I know we have discussed chemo fog on this forum many many times and the oncs all seem to agree that is does not exist. This goes along with the theory that chemo does not influence the state of your dental health.......hmmmmmmmm just sayin

    where is that little notebook?????

using your computer is much better idea but I would not know how to do that either..lol

    I suggest you READ other
I suggest you READ other posts and listen to other patients who are 6 months outside of their treatment. There have been reports across the board of having to have major dental ork after chemo treatments.

    sorry
sorry ketziah.....I meant my comments purely as irony....I must learn that irony does not work in email....I have READ and listened to the fog and the dental woes on this forum. I have major dental woes because of chemo....we have discussed dental work many times.

I will try to be more straightforward in future

Video on how to "Do It" - Save pages that is ;-)
I made a video Maggie (no audio so follow the bouncing cursor) that shows how it can be done. The important thing is that you save the files to a place where you can find them later. It could be on your desktop, or in downloads or my documents...basically where ever you tell them to be saved. Then what I did was to create a folder called "Cancer Forum" so I would know what it was related to, then named the file Mags_question.htm so I would know what it's about. Otherwise it just gives a default number. Not much help for us with chemo brain.
To open the file you can (usually) double-click it with the mouse or right-click it then when you see the pop-up menu appear, select your browser to open the file. I use Firefox or Chrome. It saves all the content but it won't look exactly the same.
    Good luck

For anyone who gets told late effects don't happen
Here is a website that list them. http://www.cancer.net/patient/Survivorship/Late+Effects

And my first time to go in for my disconnect the my nurse patted me on the knee and said "It's ok honey, it's just chemo brain". While the doctors may not want to admit it and the profession as a whole doesn't always acknowledge it, there are more and more long term survivors that are experiencing all sorts of long term effects.

    Mags,
    I would print things

    Mags,
I would print things out and take notes. Then ask the doctor all my questions. It kinda drove John nuts but it helped us understand things better. He always says " you ask so many questions". I always have and he knows me well. Paula
