My heart is breaking

My baby Pogo is in the hospital today. Woke up at 3am to Pogo really suffering. She hurt her back about 3 weeks ago and seemed to be doing better. I have no clue what happened but I've never felt so helpless. She can't stand on her back legs. She was panting so hard Jim and I just kept trying to support her till we could get her to the vet this morning.

Problem is, surgery is very expensive and we just don't have the ability to do it. They are trying heavy duty steroids and we'll see tomorrow if she's responding to it. All kinds of prayers are needed guys. We may have to put her down.

My heart is breaking and can't stop crying. I had my treatment this morning so I'm tired from that and the benedryl. I'm exhausted emotionally and physically.

I know she's a dog, but she's my baby. I cannot stand seeing her in pain.

    Praying
    Hi Beth,
I'm so sorry! I'll keep Pogo in my prayers! I understand what your saying about the high cost of Vet bills. My sons cat Danny was sick for 2 weeks with a bladder infection and if he hadn't gotten better the surgery the Vet recommended would have cost $1,500.00. My son about had a heart attack when he heard the cost. Thank goodness the 2 different antibiotics and special cat food worked and Danny didn't have to get the surgery. Pogo(and you)are in my prayers!

    Pets
    Beth,
I know what you mean about your pet. It doesn't matter what type of pet we have, they are all like part of the family. I am the same way and do not want to see any animal suffer. We are all they have to depend on. It would be so nice if they could talk and tell us where it hurt. Hopefully they will be able to do something to help her. I do know what you mean about the high prices of the vets. It is a shame they have to be so greedy with their prices, especially when they know an animal is in need of help and they are supposed to be there to help all animals. I will keep you in my thoughts. Pogo
I am so sorry for your pain. I have 2 cats now. Portia age 10, and Lucien age 2 But, years ago I had a dog named Pogo.
He lived a long and happy life. When he passed away at 15, i felt my world had come to an end. Even though I had a husband, daughter, and parrot named Max, I was lost without Pogo.

I will say a prayer for your Pogo. He will be in my thoughts, as you will.

    Thank you
Thanks guys I need all the help I can get as well as prayers. When I called the vet last night she was resting well. She's drinking and eating a little bit. She still wasn't able to use her back legs. We'll see how she's doing later this morning.

I had a rough time last night sleeping. She usually sleeps on top of me...all 87 pounds lol. Gidget my other dog is lost without her. My house is much too quiet without drama queen there.

    Hi,

I'm praying for you, your family, and Pogo. Oh my, can I relate! Our little adopted mix "Max" is like our son. He has everything to do with my recovery from treatment as I walk this bumpy road. I am praying that today will show great improvement in Pogo's health. We're all with you!! Hugs.

    Beth,
I have 4 dogs that like I said in another post to you are just like our kids. 2 hotdogs and a mixed Burmise mountain dog and another one that I believe is mixed coyote ,but the easiest going of all of them. They are all spoiled rotten. They are not happy till they can pile up in the bed. Thats their favorite time of the day. They are like little kids and I would miss any one of them. They tested her this morning and she has no feeling in her back legs at all. I am going to leave work at 2 and we're going to go say our goodbyes to her.

    I hurt.

Oh no. I am so very, very sorry. I write this with tears in my eyes. Our pets are our family. I have been where you are now, and it never gets any easier. At least you will be with Pogo when she closes her eyes. You gave her a good life and did the best you could. That's all any of us can do.

We have a beautiful animal cemetary where I live. I have 3 pets buried there. The rest were cremated and are with us forever in our home. Each urn has their picture. I have so many good memories.

    Love and sadness. Maggie

    Pogo is home tonight
Pogo's home where she belongs. Aley brought her ashes home today for me. Since she was so protective of our front porch and garden I think I am going to make a spot for her next to a pretty rose bush. Maybe a stone with her name. That way I can still talk to her while I play in the dirt. :)

Thanks guys for letting me vent here. I will try to find the picture of her in my lap while I was going through chemo...we were both in a simple wooden rocking chair at the time and we didn't fit well LOL.

Peaceful healing to all of us

    Beth
