ICE Treatement

Has anyone received ICE treatment for Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma? If so, what were the side effects. I have large B cell lymphoma. I had R-CHOP for six months, had a Pet Scan only to find out it wasn't working. My counts were up as for as white and red blood and platelets, but it didn't do the trick for me. Treatments begin on Tuesday..very scared. When I questioned the nurse at my doctors office how often she does this type of treatment, her reply was, It has been a long time. I will go to the hospital for the 24 hour drip. Any replies will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

    How is it going?
My dad was just rediagnosed with Diffuse large B Cell lymphoma...and R-ICE is one of his options. They want to follow up the R-ICE with stem cell, but he doesn't want to go with that option. I don't think he would survive the stem cell. Do you have to have the stem cell? You just started on Tuesday? How is it going? Are you in the hospital? I wish you the best

    Hello LadyBlue
    Hi, LadyBlue,

Well, I wanted to know how your new treatment went on Tuesday. I'm so sorry about your R-CHOP result. That had to be devastating. Did you have any interim testing that showed any activity while you were still in cycle? I have the same dx as you and I had an interim testing after the 2nd round. My onc said that it is working as it should. What did they say about yours, if you had one? How many rounds of R-CHOP did you have?

I don't know anything about ICE, but you got through the CHOP, you can do it with ICE. Honestly, I would be scared, too. But I hope that it was not as bad as you thought. Our thoughts can get way out of hand when we don't know what is ahead. Try not to focus on what you don't know, just take each day as it comes.

Please let us know about how it went this week.

    All my best wishes,
    Tom (DLBCL-4-7/10)

    What type of treatment did
What type of treatment did your Dad have the first time he had cancer? I'll try the stem cell of the chances of survival are greater then 75%. The R-ICE wasn't too bad. I did Tuesday and Thursday in the doctors office. Was in the hospital Friday--Sunday. Local hospital takes so long to get treatment started. This gets on my nerves. Had labs(bloodwork) on Wednesday. Counts are up, so no blood nor platelets were necessary.

    Had part of the R-ICE
Had part of the R-ICE treatment on Tuesday and Thursday in the doctors office. I entered the hospital on Friday, got home on Sunday. Tuesday and Wednesday I was very tired. Had labs on Wednesday, counts are on the way back up, so no blood nor platelets were necessary. I'm sure next week will be different when I go in for labs. It just takes so long at the hospital to get things going. I find myself very impatient.

I had 6 rounds of mini and 4 full rounds of the R-CHOP. Dr Tucker had spoke of starting R-ICE on June 10th. I didn't have any type of testing until 9/15. That was the PET Scan. I just wished he had either started the R-ICE back in June or had the PET scan done.

Hope you have a good week. Leaves are so pretty. Cancer makes you appreciate the small things in life.
