Tips for what to eat with low white counts

Hi friends,

I am looking for tips what to eat with low white counts.

I have read to eliminate fresh uncooked fruits or vegetables. So my fruit has been applesauce (no sugar added).

I am trying to eat chicken, lean hamburgers, cheese, milk. Frozen vegetables.

I have read to avoid mayo as it has eggs in it.

I also try to be careful to avoid anything acidic as I am hoping to avoid getting any mouth sores. So I even gave up my 2 morning cups of coffee (which I miss like crazy).

I would appreciate any and all ideas!

Thank you.

Hugs, healing, and peaceful thoughts,

Cindy

I would eat whole wheat toast with cinnamon, apricot jam (the kind with no sugar added. My white count never stopped me from having my chemo. Hope this helps.
Hugs and healing right back atcha, sweetie!!! Hang in there.

Norma,

I am very interested in your post about whole wheat toast with cinnamon and apricot jam.
DO you credit this with helping your white counts? What ingredients help? Is it the cinammon and apricots?

Did you eat this more than once a day?

Thanks and please advise.

Hugs!!!!!

Hello. I don't know of anything specifically, but I think you're on the right track. Get plenty of lean protein, chicken, pork, beef , salmon, orange juice. Make sure you don't eat anything that is not fully cooked or pasteurized. I would steam all veggies. I've heard that cottage cheese is high in selenium and I read somewhere that helps the WBC. And green tea too. Do you like cottage cheese? Well good luck and let us know how things go.
