I have a grey tabby. I got him about a month ago. He is six months old. The animal shelter named him “Max.” I noticed that his pads under his claws are so big, he looks funny being so small with large fat pads. So I changed his name to ……”Maxi-Pad.” I am sure he will develop some kind of complex as he grows up.

    Hey dave54,he should be happy
Hey dave,he should be happy you didn't name him "Maxine"did you see my post about "Petunia/Toonie"? (smiles) dave

    Three cats own me
You know what they say,to dogs you are the greatest thing in world,to cats you are staff. My cats provide alot of entertainment around here.My hubby claims my momma cat has healing powers, she likes to sleep curled up on my stomach, especially when I'm not feeling well. my cats are mutt cats but are white with orange markings like a siamese and have blue eyes. their names are Koda, shes the mom and I kept 2 from her one and only litter and their names are Fatty and Fuzzbutt. Strange name I know but I love them. Some days they are my only companions.

    Funny names. Petunia now Toonie.
Speaking of, We have a cat named "Toonie" When we caught him as a kitten my wife didn't look close enough and sent "Petunia"to the vet to get fixed. The vet called to advise her mistake. She said OK,change the papers to read Toonie. We also caught the mother (Mama) and he is a real mama's boy.

ps:We also have one named Fuzzy (girl)

    Hello Davexx again!
I am laughing a lot today thanks to you and your post! David54, I just looove your name of Maxie Pad, too funny! My mom's cat is named Miss Kitty, but my dad changed that to Kippy.....so now Kippy it is! Our cat "Gizmo" was found inside the fridge this past week! I was like...what in the world? do I hear meowing? My husband responds....oh yeah Giz jumped in the fridge, I thought Id leave her there for a few minutes!!! Oh my gosh.....glad she meowed! We also have Cheeks, Little Head, Sox and Dominoe. Dog is Chocolate, chicks are feathers, yellow, black beauty, speckles, and flip flop. So funny the names we come up with isnt it? Thanks again and you all take care!

I am bragging! Lol! Great thread davexx! He is the laziest 16lb, 8yr old cat who is like velco with me! In the pic, he is trying to write a "snail mail" but think he is choosing a nap instead! Lol!
He is my bestest friend, and I will probably lose custody in the divorce. (sigh) I definately will rescue another, I know he will miss me, but WE will survive.
Thanks, Patty - still trying to get Fatty

Jupeto was our favorite Maine ****
Jupeto, was our favorite Maine ****. He weighed 18 pounds, which is average for a Maine ****. Unfortunately he passed away in the spring. We miss him something terrible. I work from home and he used to sit in the other office chair and supervise while I work.

My husband spent 2 months searching for another Maine **** and now Cara has become a lovely addition to our home. At 10 months she weighs 15 pounds and is into everything! She has taken up supervising my work and attends many of my daily teleconferences as well as checking in on my husband when he is not feeling well. Her favorite past time is chasing ping pong balls all over the house. :)

    This is a great thread!
I was grieving the loss of my two kitty-boys, Chaps and Blaze, when two strays decided to come stay with me and claim me for their own. Opie (the older, ginger-haired boy) came first -hanging around my backyard and staying just out of reach until the day he decided he liked me and jumped into my lap, purring - and then Gouda, the tiny, weeks-old, smoke-gray puffball who finally allowed me to coax him out from under my car and into my arms. They're spoiled rotten, indoor/outdoor kittehs who own everything they survey, including my heart. Even when they're pretending to ignore me, I get so much comfort from having them around - and they're much more entertaining than TV!

    Cats
I originally only owned dogs. I had 3 dogs of which 2 had passed from old age, and my 3rd was getting close to passing. I had always wanted a cat and now I needed one for comfort due to me about to lose my last dog. Well I took 1 stray from the neighborhood and now I have 4 all together. All strays from the neighborhood. I love them all, they are now inside cats. They have helped me through tx and are hysterical.

Cecile, is that a ostrich or an emu? I love that picture, it made me laugh so hard.

    Our dogs
We have two dogs. The inside dog is a Yorki-poo and is named Sophie. She is a real lap dog. If anyone is in bed, she is right there sleeping next to them. She has a few toys, but her favorite toy is a squeaky ball. She bring it to us and puts it in our lap or right next to us. We throw it and she chases it and brings it back again. She does this until she is tired. She looks more poo than yorki and has an overbite. She probably isn't cute to anyone else but is definitely a part of our family. When she needs to go outside, she growls at us!!! We have an outside dog that is part mastiff and part great dane, named Roxy. She is huge and has the run of the almond orchards around us. She patrols our house and my brother-in-law's house across the street from us. She will bring us "presents" of moles and rodents she has caught after they baled hay. She puts it on the porch so we can see it and praise her and then she takes it off somewhere - thank goodness. Roxy has a tail and when she swings her tail and hits our legs, it feels like we are being spanked. When the grandchildren come over, the know to stay away from the tail. The all go looking for Roxy though so they can play. We don't have any cats now but did have our daughter's cat for a while, Mr. Kitty. She thought he was a girl until he got older. I don't remember what his name was originally but she changed it to Mr. Kitty. He would suck his paw, looked like he was sucking his thumb. He did that all of his life. Maybe someday we'll have to have another Mr. Kitty. Thanks for letting me ramble on about my "family."

    Help with Cat
Okay everyone. I need help. I mentioned in an earlier post, my cat Trixie, American short hair, is morbidly obese. She refuses to go outside anymore, and basically sleeps and eats.. Anyhow, she has some thick hard clumps of hair on her back.. she can't groom herself back there because she's fat and also doesn't have 100% mobility.. she has had this for months.. I've been putting off taking her to vet because she's , how do you say, quite surly.. they'd probably have to put her under to do anything.. and it would cost me an arm and a leg....is there anything i can put on to dissolve hair clumps.. does anything know of anything that would work.. and I'm not talking a few snarls.. I'm talking major major hard clumps of fur....:(

    Hello Cindy Bear
I was surprised to read that Trixie is a short hair cat. Usually it is the long haired cats that get clumps of fur. I have one longed haired cat, "Cheeks". I have to annually cut her hair clumps out. Take a small pair of scissors, part her hair, cut them out. I was also thinking since "Trixie" is obese, have you tried to give her a diet dry food? Limit her intake of food to just twice a day? Hope this helps! Let us know.
