Bad timing or what???

Hi guys,
I received a letter in the mail today that said as of Sept 27th my cancer doctor will no longer be at my clinic. They are sorry for the inconvienence, and regret the emmotional distress this may cause,blah, blah,blah. What the heck??? Hubby never liked this doctor from day one and liked her even less after my BMB test, so he is very happy with this news. I just can't figure out what could have happened since last Tuesday for this to be happening since there was no mention of her leaving the clinic. Not a good day to hear this kind of news when still taking the pred and already in a freaky state of mind.Like we don't have enough on our mind?? Hell of a deal...huh?...Sue

    Makes you wonder if they fired her. No notice? I got notice from KU months ahead of time when the dufus I saw for the sct was moving into the hospital part of their center.

    Sorry to hear about this, but I am sure they will put you in very good hands for the remainder of your treatment.

    I don't know about bad timing for them ,but it is bad timing for you. We have to remember they live in their world and we live in ours. You may never know what went wrong there. It could have been anything from getting asked to leave(Drs don't get fired) to "You'll pay me how much?" I am sure the Drs where you are just like the Drs. everywhere. The job they have now is a stepping stone to bigger and better things. I know hearing stuff like this does not make you feel any better, but it is what it is. They left for some reason or another. A really caring Dr would have at least talked to their patients face to face. Instead they send a boilerplate letter to everyone. Hopefully you will get someone who is even better. Things happen sometimes for a good reason. Don't worry the current democratic healhcare plan is gonna save us all. Had to throw a JOKE in there. Soapbox John

    Just wanted to add my 2 cents..
    Last year , without any warning, my pcp started charging for phone calls. Doesn't matter if you call him or he calls you. He still charges the same amount he does for an office visit. Total crap... The only up side is that he is available to me anytime any day 24/7.
    Still would have liked to be forwarned about his new policy.
    Hope your weekend is peaceful...

    I hear ya, and agree full heartedly. This letter coming on a Saturday wasn't coincidental either. Gives the clinic time to brace for the Monday a.m. fallout. P!$$@* me off that she didn't say a word to me on Tuesday.I don't know, this may be a blessing in disguise...we will see. I'll handle this better once the pred is out of me...ha! I swear...needed this like a freakin hole in the head...ha!....Sue

    Hi lisha,
    I guess we are going to have to get use to stuff like this happening, because making money is the bottom line. I have a weird gut feeling that my doctor was "Let Go". Hubby definetely thinks so, but he didn't like her from day one. I think the language barrier bothered him as my doctor is from Saudi Arabia and is difficult to understand. I was getting use to her accent, but must admit at times it was challenging. No warning is what flipped me out. I'm peaceful right now...can't do anything until Monday anyhow...ya know? Hope all is going ok with you. Love...Sue

    I really hate to think that way , but so many times it is the bottom line. I think more often than not. People have so many problems in the health field and it is so common for a Dr. to say they will be moving on. The patient has learned to rely on these self proclaimed Gods as a source of hope and trust. I am not saying all are this way, but so many are. I had a bad experience in 1995 when my father had prostate cancer. His Urologist had the bed side manner of a goat. It was terminal. My father also had heart problems and needed a bypass. Knowing his cancer was terminal his cardiologist insisted on the bypass.By the way the cadiologist was busy trying to make his practice the biggest in town. He had the bypass and the cariologist was giving him meds. His primary Dr. who I think was God in disguise was giving him meds as well. My father was having all kinds of reactions. My uncle,who is a pharmacist looked at his meds and said the combo each of those bozos are giving him would kill him. Neither Dr. would back off. My father was in all kinds of pain and was on a high dosage of morphine. The drugs he was getting was causing counter-reactions. I called his primary Dr. and explained and he said just double the dosage. I said and that would kill him. His answer was, "Well". This is the same yaahoo that sent my father home from the hospital when he was in a lot of pain. I raised hell and he told me he was a dr. and didn't appreciate being talked to that way. If you think about it he was saying I was a piece of $het and he was better than me. I told him I didn't care what he was or who he thought he was,we are talking about a person in a lot of pain. I do remember saying that one day maybe someone will be able to return the favor to him. Anyway I have had some bad experiences with the mighty Drs. I am not saying they are all this way,but you never know till one of them is backed in the corner. It is all about the mighty dollar. First thing they ask you when you go to the office is who is your insurance carrier. They may ask your name , but its the insurance cards that get eye balled and xeroxed. While you are sitting in the waiting room waiting for the dr. they are waiting to get a response to the insurance info they just faxed off. You will not get called back till they get that return fax. I have an experience with that too. You know what, I think its I know I will be getting that prednisone next week and I am just revved up for a head start. Better get off here, the soapbox is starting to crack under my feet. John

    Hi John,
    That was a terrible thing to go through with your fathers doctors and I'm sorry. We hear about things like this happening, but until it happens to us we can't imagine how we would handle it. This has been a creepy day for me wondering if the next doctor will be better or worse. I feel like I was just dumped...no big deal...like I'm not important. Thats a scary feeling when your sick and you don't have any choice but to trust your doctor. Well...lets just hope the clinic gives me some answers on Monday and I'll find a good doctor to take up where this one left off. Thanks for taking the time to say what you did...I truely appreciate it. Sue

    Sue, I am so sorry to hear about your doc not being tactful and considerate - sounds like it is now a good thing you are going to another doctor since you and hubby felt this one did not click well. I cannot imagine how you had to put up with this when you felt out of it taking the pred. Hope you feel more at rest now and that you get a more satisfactory doctor.

    Hi Liz,
    I'm so much better today with the doctor news, especially now that the "pred" is done. Yesterday was just not a good day for any bad news. The clinic will be open in the morning, so I plan to find out as much information as possible, even if that means going there and waiting to see someone. Hope I'll physically feel up to it..mentally I'm right on...I'll let you know what I find out. Remember to stay peaceful and don't get yourself worn out while waiting to get your shot. I feel so bad for you and Vinny with your low counts. Hope this will all turn around for both of you. Love, Sue

    Bad docs
    Hey John,

    Man, what a story about your Dad. I'm so sorry. My Mother has dealt with similar issues and with "clinics" that are just fronts for Medicare fraud. And in the end, all she (we) can do is move on until we find someone that we actually can trust. But, trust or not, every one of us has to earn a living and that is a big part of all of our lives. I used to be in the corporate finance field, and it is the same. The vast majority of us are honest and do the best we can and then there are the others. Free enterprise is not paradise, it is nitty gritty and full of holes. But it is the best of existing alternatives.

    I do hope and pray that all here on the board have established a good relationship with their docs. It is highly important.

    Sue, please keep us posted on your new doc. One of my docs is also from Saudi Arabia, but has been here a long time and communicates well. So far so good.

    John, any of us who are seeing more than one doc need to keep your story in mind. I will. Thanks.
