"Oncxiety", now good news

Yesterday I posted that I was feeling "oncxiety" as I was meeting with my onc this morning. I had a really good meeting with her. First of all, my tumour was tested for the KRAS mutation, + I am a "WILD " thing, so I will be able to go on erubitux at some point if need be. I was very relieved, because @ my last appointment with my onc, she told me that I had some (minimal) progression on my liver, although everything else was stable. Today her resident went over those results again, + it sounds like there was even less progression than we understood there to be before. I will get a CT scan soon to see what is happening, + then if need be, my treatment can be changed. Options are good!

    No rain here
    Hi Mags,

There was no rain here today; I think we are expecting it tomorrow. Today was chemo day, just got back ~ 1 hr ago. When the onc told me I was "wild" I felt a huge weight lifting off me; I had been preparing myself for the opposite results. I feel so lucky right now, + my husband has been pretty relieved too. My CEA rose a few months ago, my onc ordered a scan which showed a little growth on the liver, but my CEA has decreased since then, so I am hoping the chemo is still working. I will have another scan in a few weeks to see.

I think it is expensive - the tumour bit needed to be sent to Califonia; I guess we don't have a testing facility here. I think my onc might have gotten the testing paid for by a pharma company because I had to sign a permission form for them to do it + it was part of the application form for a clinical study where one leg gets erbutitux + the other leg gets erubitus + another drug. At my recent meeting my onc mentionned several combinations + permutations of drugs I could be put on if my drugs need to be changed.

Thanks for holding me close to your heart; I guess you weren't able to dry any laundry today!

I don’t know what hocus pocus they did
    Ann,
Have you asked if chemo embolization would clear up your liver problem. My colon surgeon told me after my resection “I don’t know what hocus pocus they did on your liver but it looks like new”. I never see comments on that procedure on the board. The procedure killed off ½ of my liver along with all the damn cancer.

Thanks, no, I haven't asked her that, but I will at my next appointment. I think my team is hoping the chemo will take care of it. I have lymph nodes + possibly one ovary with cancer; I don't know if that is a factor. I am glad it worked so well for you.

    Thanks to everyone
I really appreciate all the kind messages from everyone here; it means the absolute WORLD to me. I really feel we are all part of an important team, + for me the cheering from the rest of the team is helping me to carry the ball over the line (or get the puck in the net, depending on what your favourite sport is). I know this wasn't scan results or a report after surgery, but it meant a great deal to me to find out my options have been expanded + I really appreciate the support from ALL of you. Merci beaucoup!
