    same damn results
    Clift,
We both got the same damn results. All my nodes were also clear. The PET scan just before surgery said the cancer was only in that one damned spot in the rectum.

I also think I need to talk to a shrink. This crap is driving me nuts. I am just damned tired of it.

Why the hell did it come back?? Am I fighting an unbeatable foe??? I keep telling myself to remember my surgeons comment “I think you are finished with cancer”. He has been around this crap a bunch. I fully trust his judgment. I want to believe him.

Now I am trying to wean myself off the damn percocet as I think I am hooked on it. That screws with my head big time. Right now everything sucks but I am happy you are doing good.

I am glad you also got good news. You will beat this; you are doing really well. All the best.

    Hi Clift,

So many ups and downs with this cancer "game", huh? I'm so very glad that there's no sign of anything now, following your surgery.
    Yee-hah!!!!

    WOW
This is undoubtably the best post on here in a long time!!! Thank you God!

I was afraid to have some elective surgery, because I didn't think I would be here, and it would be a waste of time and pain. Now I've had it done, and I'm 5 years out.

We now have to be careful not to get run over by a truck. Go see the phychiatrist, you're going to be here for awhile longer.

    Great Thing !
Yes, this is a great thing and what better way to celebrate than ice cream. There comes a time when we just have to go for the things that make life so enjoyable.

After everything you have been through, there is no doubt a person would have some jumbled emotions brewing around. Peel those emotions away like the layers of an onion and what you will find at the core is pure love and appreciation for your wife and everything you have learned on this scary adventure.

    Congrats!!!
YAYAYAYA... more good news!!! That is fabulous!! Although, I have to admit, I'm not exactly sure I understand it... but hey, if your doctors say this is great news, then this is great news!!! If the tumour was metastatic, then doesn't that mean it was a met from the primary? Ok... so that means what... that it was found in the same area so it really was one and the same thing... or did it travel from the primary location, in which case it had spread. But having taken it out... all other tests are coming back NED?

So do they consider you a Stage 4 or have they re-staged you? I'm just not sure I've followed this... but then , I blame it on chemo brain. :)

    Again... congrats!!

    sounds like good news
I'm so glad to hear you don't have any evidence of the beast in your nodes; I'm also glad to hear you will be seeing a counselor to work out the emotional issues. This crap just keeps messing with us and it's hard for us to keep on top of things. I found my decision to go to a counselor to be one of the best ones I've made in quite some time; things just wear on you and you don't always make the best decisions. I learned a lot of things about myself that I didn't know, but should have. Now that I've moved in with my brother, I'm going to have to find another counselor, I hope I am able to find one who rocks as much as my last one did. Amazing that a stranger could see into my soul so clearly. Good luck, you are strong and you can do this.

    Blessing
What a fantastic blessing you have given all of us that care so much about you. We are so happy and thankful for the wonderful news. Keep it up...it is so great to finally hear good news. About your treatment of your wife, I've always heard you are rougher on the one you love because they will understand. As a caregiver, my husband can be pretty hateful sometimes but I know it is because of the pain, the stress, or the medication. It hurts me sometimes but after 41 years of marriage I truly understand and am just so thankful that he is still able to be hateful. Praying always for you and your family.

    Cheryl,
I am mulling those same questions over in my head as well, which is why I asked the second time. The tumor did have crc cells which she said would make crc the primary(1st tumor was in lower rectum area, this met was in lower part of the upper left lung lobe. That tells me that it does make me a stage 4. But with no node involvement at all and all clear margins both surgeries on both tumors. I am not real sure what I am looking at but to me its just a stage, it only means that my chance of re occurence is higher but ya know, it wasn't suppose to happen this time and it did so it could just as well never happen again as it happened this time. I will celebrate every day of being "ahead" of the game for a little while..

I have an appointment in 3 weeks where we will discuss probabilities...In any matter, I have won this round and I will be enjoying it as long as possible.......Buzz
