I got "The" call this afternoon while waiting for wife shopping in the Michaels Scrapping outlet.....It was as this..."Mr Powers, Your tumor showed that it was metastatic and that the colon was the primary, That really fooled us yet we have found no evidence of it in your bloodstream . Your tumor margins are all clear and all of the nodes removed and tested did indeed test completely negative. There is no evidence of cancer anywhere to be found."

I ask her to repeat herself and said the exact same words...I ask how could it be metastatic and not show up in the bloodstream...or in nodes etc. she told me that these are some of the things that simply happen, I ask her so your telling me this is a good thing, she said no, I am telling you that this is a great thing.

I celebrated with a big cry and then an ice cream cone.........and I also made an appointment to see a phychiatrist with an appointment this Thursday at 9 am to find out why I am so verbally abusive to my wife...I am trying to get all my ducks in a row...while I can...

Thank all of you that have helped me from start to finish, this is the greatest bunch a person could ever be a part of......love to you all........Clift

    same damn results
    Clift,
We both got the same damn results. All my nodes were also clear. The PET scan just before surgery said the cancer was only in that one damned spot in the rectum.

I also think I need to talk to a shrink. This crap is driving me nuts. I am just damned tired of it.

Why the hell did it come back?? Am I fighting an unbeatable foe??? I keep telling myself to remember my surgeons comment “I think you are finished with cancer”. He has been around this crap a bunch. I fully trust his judgment. I want to believe him.

Now I am trying to wean myself off the damn percocet as I think I am hooked on it. That screws with my head big time. Right now everything sucks but I am happy you are doing good.

    Golden Ticket
Man, you just got the golden ticket. Sounds like no treatments for you as a bonus to all of this - you score twice here. Good for you!

Just recovery and follow-ups, don't get much better than that. I'd go play the lottery, you are on a roll now:)

    Great news
Great news for you. Just so you know it is easier for men to show anger then show weakness or that you are afraid. It is a man thing.

    Wonderful!
So very glad you got such great news.

I am also glad that you are getting some help with the emotional part. I think some times when we think we may not have long to be around, we push away those who love us, mistakenly thinking that they won't hurt as much if they don't care as much.

Rest up and even though you don't have to do further treatments, get back into fighting shape for the most wonderful things in life...those we love and those that love us.

    Hugs,

    Marie who loves kitties

Excellent news. Does this mean no follow up chemo or treatment after you have healed? I sure hope so.

Don't be so hard on yourself, us caregivers can take it pretty good. You were scared, scared for the present and scared for the future, scared for your kids, scared for wife, maybe worried about the financials of the whole mess and your wife, well, she was an easy target, an escape hatch. Hope this makes sense. Glad you are going to talk about it to someone about it.

Take care and best wishes - Tina
