    How much mucinex in nebulizer
    Graci -
How much liquid mucinex do you put in the nebulizer? I didn't know they sell a liquid form. Does it screw up the operation of the nebulizer? The nebulizer uses only sterile water for humidity. Just curious. The mucus seems to be clogging the trach, causing breathing problems. We use a lot of saline. The suction machine wasn't doing much, so gave it up. I'll wait for an answer.

    What a day!!!
I am happy to report, i came home with one less piece of plastic, they felt i was far enough along, scoped my throat and chords, no tumor, clean, they removed my trach, i came home with a bandaide and very happy wearing a large bandaid for 2 weeks till my trach hole heals, I thank god and everyone here for there support,i feel i made a huge jump today mentally, they want me to continue the hyperberic treaments, they feel this is helping my over radiated throat and might even help in restoring a more of a whisper, i am going to have a good sleep without have plastic wearing and rubbing my skin, and having a piece of plastic scraping my throat, i pray for anyone out there with a trach, and how you can deal with it, I didn't do well, and also being depressed at the same time, i'm not out of the woods yet, but i'm cutting a path and heading out of my darkness...thanks to the big guy above and marine, debbie, junklady and ratface, and whoever wished me well...i pray for everyone fighting the big "C", God Bless. Your Welcome
    Dennis,

My Best to you. Yes, sometimes the Doctors are so fixed on healing us, that they forget to give us the information that we need to know when we get home. Fast instructions on how the machine works, but not the little things to get us thru all the info thrown at us.

Sleeping in a recliner wasn't a walk in the park either, as I would wake up anywhere from 45 minutes to a hour and a half. Sometimes my head would bob and weave and block the airflow to the trach. Woke me up in a hurry. Lack of sleep was my biggest enemy. You are so correct about coughing to hard and having the trach shoot out. No one showed me how to replace it in the case it did happen, so, I made absolutely sure that my trach wasn't going anywhere.

I also had the suction machine and hated it. I finally decided that I would shoot the saline solution in the trach and cough hard to get what ever was in my lungs up and out. I held a wash cloth over the trach when doing this. I would give myself at least two shots of the saline solution to make sure my lungs were clear.

My results with a humidifier were not too good. Seemed that the mucus increased when I ran it, so I stopped using it. But, that is me. As mentioned many times, each of us reacts to treatments differently. It is a balancing act to say the least, we just have to find our own center of gravity on this tight rope.

My Best to You and Everyone Here

    Just to let you no
    Marine,
I got my trach out yesterday, wierd sensation, my l/s larnyx still doesn't work, but my right does produce sound, i feel a small sore throat, i thik this is either from the tube down my throat, the hole was so sore from it bobbng back and forth,, Doctor said the whole was on a 4 trach, and wanted to heal bad, so in a few weeks my hole in my throat will be healed, the throat feels tight and like i said sore, i know this is normal. Breathing is good, the airwave was large enough he felt it could come out and i could go solo, eating is ok, i still have some slight choking, so this is an experimental, when i really exert, i ned to rest for a few, i think this is normal as well? I got the rest of my SSI disability papers from the hospital yesterday as well, this took 3 weeks, i can go apply now with everything in hand, did you file for SSI, please advise on your recooping from your trach, or anyone who would like to give there 2 cents worth, asd of yesterday, the doc says I'm cancer free, no trach and on the mends, i am still taking the hyberberic, he feels thisis a big plus.....I still get depressed, but am trying had to realize what i got, and hopefully it will get better. best to all. Congratulations!!!
Dennis, I just wanted to congratulate you on getting your trach removed, I know how much it was bothering you, physically and emotionally. It's great to hear that everything else seems to be getting better and that you are now cancer free. Great words - CANCER FREE!!!

Take care and give yourself time to heal. I'm sure that your depression will ease up now that you have the trach out.

    My best to everyone, Glenna

wow, dennis, you had lots of good news! Congrats! You're on your way now. I was still tired after my treatments for some time. I'd say at least 2 months, so yes, I would think that is normal. I'm 8 months post trmnt and I still get choked quite often on food. I'm not sure how long that will last. I wish you all the best, Dennis, hang in there.
