1st Scan Clear!

Hi All.
Haven't been on in awhile as my computer shot craps and I just got around to getting a new one. Received "all clear" on first CTscan last week. I know first scans show a lot of false positives. Hopefully this isn't the opposite - false negative (if there is such a term). More exciting for me is I finally ate after 12 weeks with no food. YeHaa!! It was only a 1/4 milkshake and a little pudding, but I figure that's a start. I'm 8 weeks post-treatment and I was getting real frustrated about not eating. Going to a speech pathologist really helped and helped with my voice also. I forget who, but someone made that suggestion on here. Thanks!!!! Hope everyone is doing well!
Greg

I was PMing you probably as you were writing your post. I was just saying I hadn't seen any posts from you in a while. Good to hear from you. Great to hear about the "all clear" scan. Chocolate or Vanilla?

Glad to hear about the scan. AND the eating. Did you ever think you'd be so excited by a little pudding? Keep it up.

    Great News
Good to hear Greg, it's a great feeling to start recovering and seeing the progress....as for the false negatives, I think that's more of a PET scan thing, but could be wrong. You'll probably have a PET within the next few months. Glad the CT was clean though, that's always a great feeling.

Best, and keep on staying strong,
    John

    Chow down !
Good news on yr Scan Greg and also that you managed to eat something. It will slowly get better from now. You still need to be patient a while yet.

I feel almost normal now and it's been 8 months since I finished treatment (Oct 10th 2009). I am a slow eater these days but I can go out to restaurants without panic and manage to find something I can eat. Soup is alway a good safe default. Your choices will slowly widen as the burning reduces and you can take more. Keep up the fight.

Congrats on the "all clear' scan
Greg, wanted to congratulate you on the great scan. I have had 2 CT scans and both showed that I am in remission ;-) I am not an expert but I believe the "false positive" refers to the PET scan and not the CT scan. I hope it doesn't as I want to believe that both of mine were good scans ;-)

My best to you and everyone here - Glenna

Great to hear your good news. As everyone has said the swallowing will get better. I am similar to scam as I am now the slowest at the table and have to follow most things with water. But, again congrats

Greg, way to go!! I'm very happy about both. Hopefully, new foods can be added daily or weeekly. It is a slow process but at least you have started the journey! Glad to hear the scan is clear. That is always a great relief. You're on your way now.
    God Bless you friend,

    Greg, that's great! My Onco
Greg, that's great! My Onco said to stick with the things you know you like and to just keep trying. He also suggested at first to try cream soups. I was about a week out from last rad and after a few false starts tried the soup. For the next week I had every flavor of Campbell's cream soups 2 or 3 times a day. I now know what Popeye feels like when he eats a can of spinach. It's been all good from there. Good luck and congrats on the scan.
