    I've heard 6 months
Jo Jo: My hair is about 1 1/2 inches long now - and full of body! I put a little bit of gel in it in the morning and away I go. No curling irons or blow dryers needed here. Everybody thinks I should leave it just as it is - super short and colored as it is. I have a lot of black and some dark brown and, of course, the white. It doesn't bother me, though. I think I'd be fine if it came in purple at this point! I love having hair again!!! I don't think I'll be doing any dying - at least for awhile.

    I had this same question...!
I never totally lost my hair...although it was thin. And I have had predominantly salt/pepper hair for yrs as early graying runs in my genes. I have always had natural curl- but since it has been growing in these past few months, it does seem to be curlier...and thicker...and hello- WHITE with flicks of my natural dark!! I'm only 53...everyone is like OMG! don't color it- it looks so great on you!! Now...IDK if they're just trying to make me feel good or what! but I have been told that if I do color, to not go back to dark...to go blonde! anyones thoughts on that?? I know, its only hair color...and yes! the worst that can happen is it will fall out! But....! just want to do something 'normal' again!!

    Hey queenie
My hair came in grey & white. I had blonde hair before I lost it. It was dyed blonde. I was told not to even try and color my hair blonde right now if I want to cover the grey. So I went to a Med brown for now. Took 2 try's to cover the grey. I did it myself.

    I like that white hair
My husband and his 8 siblings went white in their 40s. So beautiful. I'm envious. I'll bet that white does look fab on you! Maybe leave it for awhile and see what you think??

    What's with the black/white hair
I am a natural red head. This stuff that's growing in now is BLACK and WHITE. Black on top and white on the sides. What's up with that!!!

I see a lot of you have the same thing going on. Wonder why that is?? My hair right now is about 1/4" and not a full head yet. Probably will go one color then add blond in later.

You all are crackin' me up!
Your great attitudes and comments make it easier to go through this. My last chemo was 3 weeks ago. If any fuzz is growing, it's hidden by the bit of stubble that never fell out. Following advice (from Rene?), I'm not covering my head at home so I don't wear off any new baby hair. Plus, it's hot now!

I swear, as soon as my head is covered with hair, no matter how short, no matter what color, whorls or no whorls, I'm ditching scarves and hats, putting on my blingiest earrings and hitting the town!

    Cheers to all!

    Me too!
Me too Christine, I don't care what color mine comes in either...it will be hair! My wig is soooo hot! My oncologist told me I need to wait 6 months after my hair starts growing, so I'm not even counting yet because hair has not really started growing 5 1/2 weeks after chemo...

    Funny story...
My better half walks up to me and he starts rubbing my head then starts pinching my hair...at the time i wasnt paying any attention to what he was really doing....after a couple minutes it dawns on me he is doing something to my head...i asked him what he was doing....he just kinda laughs and gives me a hand mirror...he put gel in my hair and was making little tiny spikes all over my head....i had to laugh...for the first time i can say i had spiked hair!

    bluwillo...i like your attitude!
unfortuantley my hair is not long enough yet to color it...it's just long enough to cover my head now...i guess filling in is more like it. I got the G.I. Jane look going on at the moment... maybe a little more.

    You might call around if
You might call around if your own hair dresser doesn't, and, ask if they have ever colored someones new hair after chemo. I bet they can help you out.

Also, one lady on here used Henna, instead of bleach, and, was very happy with the results. I can't remember her name though.

    Good luck!

Jo Jo .. ok here is ... my advise ...
I was told wait .. you're beautiful ..just with patches of hair .. I told myself silently .. wait for another month, Vicki, and you'll be bleaching in hi-lites .. .. 1 1/2 inches of hair and I was ready to dye .. what I found out is that my hair was a bit too short to dye, and I felt terrible not being happy with hair -- after sporting the 'bald' look for 6 months .. so I am waiting ..

my sides and back hair are longer by 1/2 inch .. then my top scalp hair .. no bangs to speak of .. just spikie sprigs of hair .. my hair has grown back at in different patches on my scalp ... some are curly, some are straight ..

I always wanted to be a red head .. so tonight I'm dying my hair myself .. like Traci stated .. what's going to happen ... it may fall out .. haha .. been there!!!!

Dye .. color or bleach .. you deserve it .. Go for it ..
