Hi to all my buddies,

I used to post alot on this forum---but haven't lately. I was diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer on 3/17/2003. I can't believe it has been 7 years. The first few years were rough, but I am doing well now. Life will never be the same. My kids were 14, 17, and 21 when I was diagnosed. They are now 21, 25 and 28. My youngest was a freshman in hgh school, he graduated from college 2 weeks ago. My oldest was a senior in college, she is now married and is expecting her first baby in Dec. I am so ecxited to be a Grandma. I can hardly wait.

For those newly diagnosed, it does get better.

For those in the fight--you are in my thoughts.

For those who lost their fight---I think of you often.

I don't know if anyone remembers me now, but I was one of the oldies.

Maureen

    HI,
Glad to hear the update! Congratulations on becoming a grandma! I don't post on here very often anymore either, but I still lurk from time to time. I was diagnosed 8 years ago...I have been NED for several years (5 1/2). I am also one of the "oldies".
    Nice to hear from you,
    Susan H.

    HEY STRANGER!
I remember you Maureen!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy to hear all is going so well for you! I remember all our crazy posts with SpongeBob, Scouty, Lisa P, Emily, Ron, Kanga, Kerry, Jana, Jerseysue, and Bud! A great group of folks who met through some lousy circumstances. I will hit 9 successful years of being clear this October. I think we can agree, when you're going through it, the days drag on, but now looking back, look how far we've come!

All my best to you and your family! And what better gift than a grandbaby for Christmas! PERFECT!

    Hugs,
    Stacy

    So happy for you
Of course that I remember you,I think that being 4 years from DX myself, I consider myself and "oldie" as well,I miss all those names so much, including yours, because that conection that you get on this board from the others semicolons on those rough, scary, desperate first days, weeks, months, you get attached to those people for life.I wish you the best in the years ahead, and enjoy being a grandmother,is one of the best things that life could bring you.

Hi Maureen - I remember you - I was diagnosed Stage IV May2005 and started here in July 2005 and you posted quite a bit. So, I am sort of an old-timer - just not as "old" as you and some others!

Nice to hear your update - grandkids are the best! My granddaughter just turned 6. Five years ago I renewed my driver's license three weeks after my colon surgery - thought to myself "this is the last time" - just renewed it again! Thought I'd never see my granddaughter in school and now she is finishing Kindergarten. My son has a good job and a successful side business and my daughter who is a Vet tech supervisor is working on finishing pre-reqs to apply to vet school. I've told my oncologist that her next job is to make sure I see my daughter get into vet school. And then of course the next job is vet school graduation..........

    Good to hear from you,

    Betsy

    Hi Maureen!

Great to hear from you! Congratulations on your 7 year mark and on all the joyous events in your personal life - college graduation and the new baby-to-be.

You and I joined the board around the same time. You have been a wonderful friend, great source of information and support for me throughout.

I am still in the fight -- started my 5th chemo stint yesterday! But, I am feeling calm and determined. Meanwhile, I've also had joyous celebrations on the family front -- my eldest finished high school a few weeks ago. Yea! He was 10 when I was first diagnosed.

    Love,
    Tara

    Welcome Back
Thanks for coming on with an update. I sure do hope all of you will come on once in a while if only to offer encouragement with your experiences. It has been a tough year on the board with way too many losses and recurrences so your stories sure do give the rest of us hope during some very dark days. We need all of you.

Take care and continued good health - Tina

Hi Maureen, sure I remember you. I am from 2004. Alot of people from that time don't post often (myself included). I do read everyone's posts alot. And I do occassionaly comment. Anyway, good to see you on the boards. I also keep everyone in my thoughts and prayers even though I don't post that often.
