I started looking into "agave nectar" and found some conflicting information as to its benefits. I'm sure that many of you are futher along on this than I am, can you share your findings.

I wound up googling "agave fraud" and found some discouraging info.

Is this another scam? How can we be sure?

Thanks for any light you can shine upon this.

Peace and Hope,

JJ

    Too many choices!!!
JJ, seems to me that our choices in food, treatments and anything else under the sun are all fueled by one idea. I want to do what is going to make me live longer. Now this seems simple, doesn't it? Of course, it is not. I find for myself I have to do things in moderation, use common sense, and evaluate each on it's own merit. Your finding that article is one of the best ways to understand what will work and what is marketing strategy. Read, learn, and discuss. In the end it is all up to each one of us to make the best decision for ourselves.

I read the article, thanks for calling it to attention. Agave nectar seems to be having it's Andy Warhol Moment. There will be some new sweetner, health food, or method down the line soon to take it's place. Some have merit, some don't.

For me, I stick with the basics. Wholesome foods, good company, healthy attitude, smell the flowers along the way. In my mind that is the best thing to do.

Hope you are doing well, JJ. I am glad you are posting and sharing your ideas.

    Makes us think!
    Hi Ladies,

I've been told and read so many places to cut out the regular sugar and use agave nectar or stevia. Hum...if you read into this article it does mention all in moderation. Limit the amount of fructose type products which can cause many other things such a high blood pressure and cholesterol. If I did follow everything I'd read on what to eat and what not to eat, I'd be changing every day, every minute.

Norma has it right almost like an Andy Warhol Moment. I read this to my husband this morning as he was recently diagnosed with high blood pressure and just hates the meds. He said well guess eating raisins on my oatmeal in morning must be limited. Yes but in the end what's the total fructose consumption per day? Reminding ourselves fruits have fructose in them and we're told to eat them....so then what? He mentions limiting fructose to 15 grams per day....which is equivalent of 2 bananas, 1/3 cup raisins or just two dates...yikes!

As my grandmother told me years ago, before passing at 92 years....

    *******EVERYTHING IN MODERATION!!!*******

Basics are the best way to go and if you can avoid artificial anything.

Enjoy life but don't go bonkers with following everything we read...

    Happy Wednesday....

How right you both are. In this age of instantaneous information gathering, we could drive ourselves crazy researching all sides of an issue. "All things in moderation" seems to be an easier path to follow!

What I choose not to be moderate in is the support of good friends and family, as much laughter as my side and stomach muscles will allow and doing my best to make the most of each day!

    Peace and hope,

    JJ
