My friend took me to her herbalist, she's got leukemia. Doc had told her that she had 12 months to live. Did not do traditional chemo did herbal. That was 18 years ago. Anyway I went for my appointment yesterday. She said that after chemo we have our bodies cleaned out of the chemo because it continues to kill of the good cells. My ct scan after the end of chemo was good and she said that I still do have cells hanging around so she is giving me natural chemo to get rid of those cells and to clean out the original chemo. I also was having stomach pains and she said that I have an ulcer. Strange enough, my hemotologist said that the veins in my belly are clogged and she told me to take an aspirin everyday, but herbalist said that the aspirin is damaging the ulcer. Go figure. So now I am starting the new herbs in a few days. Just for your information. Hope you all are doing well.
She also told me to stay away from beef and pork and that I should eat more raw veg. Let me know what you think. Best wishes to all. june

    Hi June,

Nice information as that's one alternative type appt I've not had yet -- herbologist! I believe that chemo and radiation due a huge disservice to our inners...but what else do we do. I did much research before starting my treatments but didn't have a lot of comfort in alternatives. Figured I'd get thru treatments and try the alternatives to build up my immune system and keep myself balanced to continue to fight the cancer.

No beef and pork? Yep that's what my nutritionist suggested and in fact, not much chicken either. Free Range chicken is the best but haven't gone that route yet.

Vegies? Yep as raw as possible as I have a nice salad each night before dinner and it's loaded with all raw vegies, and lots of berries on top of sugar-free "organic" yogurt for dessert. I do agree as good roughage is what pulls many toxins through out our systems.

What did she say about soy or dairy products or sugar? Mine told me no to dairy but okay for only soy liquid, not powder. Well I was on a complete line of vitamins which were rich in soy (powder) for 7 years before diagnosed with uterine. Hum...now wonder if that pushed me over to the cancer side...think? Sugar...NO, unless Stevia or a few other "natural" sweetners.

I'd love to hear what herbs and why she suggested them for you.

Hi Jazzy about the soy and milk
She said absolutely no soy, no milk, no sugar, no cakes no cookies. Stevia is good. I will get my list of herbs and let you know what it is. The good thing about her is that she tells you where you can obtain the herbs so it is not someh thing that she is getting a cut back from. I am beginning to feel a difference with the stomach pain I was having. I will let you know more about the herbs. be well june

    Interesting info, Nempark
I am looking foward to your additional posts. I had a consult with a nutritionist and also attended lectures by a dietitian in the Alternative Medicine dept at the University, as well as a lecture by a naturopath.

It was interesting to hear the similarities in their recommendations: Vit D test every year and try to keep Vit D level at least at 50 (current recommendation is too low they all said).OK to have milk but only organic. No sugar or white flour. No soy or flax seed oil or flax seeds ground due to estrogen concerns. If eating any meat, eat only organic and small amounts. Eat only fish that is caught wild....no farm raised fish. Take pharmacologic fish oil to assure purity.

Unfortunately they did not get into the herbs/spices that might be helpful. Await your additional info...

    veins being clogged
I would have that checked out for sure, I just went overnight in the hospital not to long ago for a blood clot in my vein that connects my legs and some of it broke off and went into my lungs, I am now on blood thinner. I was told that having cancer does this to our blood and it scared me because it was a good sized clot. Mine was found with a ct scan, so before you do your cleaning out of your system please have your INR level checked. This tells you how long it takes for your blood to clot. I am not preaching to you just want you to be careful.
    Best wishes,

    Nempark..Get to your doc yet?
Have you had a chance to post what herbs your doc recommends? I'd love to hear as I'm not too well versed on herbs, therefore I'll take all the help I can get.

    Best to you!

    hello karen
For the herbs and spices, the two best books i've found are the Anti Cancer a New Way of Life--they ought to call it how to live better and longer-- and another one called Foods to Fight Cancer. The second one is very well laid out and straight forward, with the greatest amount of information in the least amount of space. Goes into how cancer develops and how what you eat can slow it or halt its growth.

Short sweet and to the point. The first one, is more well rounded but longer. if you only want info on foods that's in there, but is lots of other truly fascinating info throughout.

    love ya,

    Watch out for tornadoes!
