Nov. 2009 I was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. went to my head and my lympnoid near the trichia gland. My recent Pet scan showed no signs of active cells in the lympnoid and after 5 months of chemo the lung and head cells have shrunk,. Doctor said I responded very well to chemo. They are setting me up for radiation treatments. I want to hear some successful remission stories in similair cases. I am 46 and actually very healthy otherwise.

    Same Diagnosis
Hello! I was diagnosed Nov. 5th 2009 with Stage IV NSCLC. I had a tumor in upper part of right lung and 6 positive lymph nodes including 2 in the neck. I had my first chemo treatment on Dec. 23rd 2009. I did 12 weeks of Carboplatin, avastin, pemetrexed. I went every 21 days. After 2 treatments everything had shrunk 80%. After all 4 treatments they said the cancer is undetectable. THe tumor is gone and only 2 lymph nodes remain even slightly measurable at less than 6mm. They said they don't consider them of concern unless they measure more than 1 cm. I still go every 21 days for a maintenance dose of avastin and pemetrexed. I didn't get very sick with initial and now these ones just make me a little tired on days 4 and 5 after but no sickness per say. I live in Fayetteville, NC and go to University of NOrth Carolina for treatment as I opted to go for a clinical trial. I would love to share more with you and be there as support. Take care!

    stage 4 lung cancer
They used Taxol and carbo for my chemo. I feel really good about the remission and that is about the the amount of shrinkage was 80% on the lung and head. The lympnode they did not see any signs of uptake guess that means no signs of the cancer in the lympnodes. The cancer never went to my brain thank GOD. But it did go into the skull and sitting ontop of the brain on the duramatter when we ran all the test. Pet Scan Cat Scan MRI To the Brain. I see you have children and that must be very hard. I think we can all beat this as long as we stay positive and we make sure we question our doctors. They are talking about putting me on a pill to maintain remission.

    Hello tropic girl and halfpint!
You both have given me some renewed hope. I am 41 with 2 children still at home. I was dx with stage 4 nsclc in january of 2010. I have a 2.5 cm tumor to my left lower lobe, extensive lymph node involvement and multiple large liver tumors. I have recieved 6 courses of avastin, carboplatin and taxol and the tumors were all shrinking after the 2nd course of chemo. Im due for another scan on June 2nd and am feeling quite optimistic. I havent declined at all and continue to pray for complete remission. Keep up the positive stories...they help alot!!
