Hi, guys, over the last few months I have seen on the discussion boards that a lot of you have tried the Walgreens pads and like them better than any other brand. I went to local Walgreens and found pack of 51 pads and on package indicated they are for women. Now in my mind pads are pads. These are wider than Poise pads and I can wear my BVD's and not worry about leaks on sides as long as I don't let it get too wet. I like wearing my underwear vs. diaper a 100%. Only question I have, does Walgreens make pads for men too?
Yeah, I should have asked store clerk.

Funny you should ask - just updating some notes about that.

Walgreens – the Certainty Guards for Men have been my staple pad product while at home or in jeans. It is the most absorbent, and the best-priced when the frequent sales at Walgreens are considered. These are not individually wrapped, and will not fit unnoticed in a pant pocket.

    Certainty Guards for Men
(Walgreens house brand - blue package)
Store packaging is 52 per pack.
    Item 535700
    UPC 3 11917 09436 6

Depends Guards for Men – This is slimmer, thinner, and generally less bulky than the Walgreens. At the same time it does not absorb as much. However, as wrapped, it does fit in a back jeans pocket. At list prices, it is par with the Walgreens.

    Depends Guards for Men
Store packaging is 48 per pack.
    UPC 0 36000 10544 5

Tena Men Protective Guard – This is still slimmer and thinner, but a different shape, having a lower, wider coverage area. These are still a bit less absorbent. These are the best for fit, but a higher initial price, followed by having to change them more often if you are in the heavy leaking phase.

    Tena Men Protective Guards
(previous label was Tena Male Guards)
    marked No Latex, individually wrapped
Store Packaging is 48 per pack.
    UPC 3 8004 052700 3

Thanks for your response 142. The Walgreens pads I found are Walgreens brand Certainty Pads for Women, pink package, 52 pads/pkg, individually wrapped, max absorbency, item 473898. I have been prevously using Poise Pads 42 pads, pkg, invidually wrapped. Both fit in pants pocket w/slight bulge. The Poise pads absorb more than the Walgreens pads, but Walgreens pads are wider and prevent leaks on the sides better than Poise if you keep mindful on them getting too wet. Walgreens pads are $19.99, Poise pads are $13.99 and sale price at Kroger $10.99.

The women's pads are often better from the absorbency point of view. I had picked some of the Certainty pads up on sale, and they are wider - similar to the Tena heavy unisex pads. I use those for nights.

Mens Guards are generally considered "moderate" protection.

As to Walgreens, if you watch the sales and the monthly coupon booklets, you will find some very good prices. I've paid as little as $4.99 for the pack of 52 guards, off a normal list around $14. Their list prices are as bad as anyone's, and vary from one store to the next.

Yeah, I like the coupons. I will watch for the sales papers that Walgreens sends through the mail. Think I am going to use the women's pads, works for me.
    Thanks for your help.
