Bladder Cancer Stage IV

Hello,
My dad was diagnosed with stage IV gall bladder cancer. He is carrying a large size tumor that has evaded the liver, small intestine and possibly other organs. We were told with surgery they would be able to remove the tumor and things would be fine. But it turns out they discovered during surgery the tumor evaded the portal and arteries that carry blood flow to the liver. If only one of these were infected then they could have successfully removed the tumor including the gall bladder and part of the small intestine. The surgeons were shocked to see that my father was carrying this huge tumor around without any pain or discomfort. They told us my father was a strong healthy person. He just turned 74. After the unsuccessful surgery he weirdly regained his appetite he has color on his face and walks fairly ok not as well as he use too. He did loose about 25lbs two months prior to the surgery due to lose of appetite. Hes scheduled to see an oncologist next month. My family and I are so sad. Hes such sweet loving wonderful man.

    Keep hoping and research
    Your post struck a chord. My Dad was 74 when I lost him to prostate cancer 10 years ago. A loving and sensitive man and father of 7 kids..all who loved him so much.. I have never fully recovered from that loss. Ironically, I have been recently diagnosed with both prostate and bladder cancer. However, for me, both have been caught early and I have a pretty good chance of beating both. My Dad had no chance years ago... Today, I think he would have been around a lot longer.

    I will tell you this, as futile and bleak this thing may look, dont give up..research and go after the best Doctors offering credible innovative treatments and pray and hope and let your Dad know you are all in it together ..and show him the love.. It is great medicine. And remember Doctors are like Lawyers, carpenters, teachers, farmers.. some are good, some great, some lousy..Never be afraid to question things.

    Thank you for sharing your story and your well wishes. As much as I know that there's no cure for this i cant help to think that maybe a miracle might happen. Monday ill find out from the oncologist at Sloan Kettering on were we stand. I wish you the best in your treatment.
