Ether I’m stopped up and cant go or I go 20 or more times a day. Then when the feeling does come I got to run like hell or it ends up in my pants. So far I wish I had my bag back.

    Awww!
It will get better. Seriously, your body just has to make some adjustments.

As for me, I took 4 Dulcolax 3 1/2 hrs ago, have drank most of a 64 oz Gatorade/Miralax...and absolutely NOTHING has happened! I am about to vomit...just came onto the forum to take my mind off of this 'crap'. Sloshing when I walk..Yippee.

Hoping for a better outcome for you soon;)

    Brooks,
    It will get better!

    Brooks,
It will get better! Remember back when you first had your surgery and had the illeostomy?
This took time to get used as well. I know it is hard not to be impatient but your body has been through hell. I have found that if I eat a salad every day it seems to keep everything moving along. I am 7 months out from the reversal and I can do anything and go anywhere without worrying about being near a bathroom. Remember too that your sphincter muscle needs to relearn how to hold things back again, it has not had to work in months and it will take some time. are you exercising that muscle? Try and clench that muscle multiple times of the day to get it working properly again. It takes time to figure out what foods to eat that won't stop you up and what foods to avoid the runs. Once you figure this out it will be alot easier.

I think I may have messed up
Well… I think I may have messed up. I saw a great job on Craigslist last week and now they want to interview me. So I fly out tomorrow at 5pm to Albany Oregon for a interview on Friday at 1pm. I’m so worried about being on the plane for 3 hrs and pooping my paints or at the interview and having to jump up and run for the bathroom. Now what am I going to do?

are you having the no go or
are you having the no go or too much issue today? If too much, then you should be fine tomorrow. If no go then take something to get it moving tonight. Stress can play a big part in it too. You can do this Brooks! After everything you have been through you can conquer this. Go get em!

    It IS

    Brooks,
It IS frustrating. Like everyone is saying things will start moving towards being normal again...though never quite exactly like it was. I wish I had some advice for you about your interview. Getting the interview must have been a great feeling. I hope things are controllable for you during the trip. Give it your best, that's all you can ask of yourself.

Now you know you have to go to the interview. To be on the safe side, now you may not like this, but Depends. They even got male or female ones. Now I know you are rolling your eyes about now but, well, just do it. Your 3 hour plane ride and interview will go much more smoothly if you are at ease and not worrying.

    I'm sorry
Maybe us gals would have an easier time with it. It is just temporary, for the trip, to give you a little more confidence in your travel and interview.

You are alive, you are NED, you are going to go back to work. Things are looking so good for you, this is just a little bump.

    Take care - Tina

    Go for it!
    Brooks,

I feel your pain, man. I didn't have a bag, but because of my IBS, I have had problems since my resection. I have to take Miralax twice a day and eat a bunch of fiber and take probiotics every day, or I get all backed up. Occasionally, though, and I never know when it will go like this, I have the OOPS moments where I realize I have to go to the bathroom NOW. Usually happens when I'm in the car and can't find a bathroom. I told my doctor that I feel like I have no control over my life now. And I have pain every day. I often contemplate dropping all the medicine and just drinking gallons of water and hoping it works out.

Go for the job!!! You deserve a new, wonderful chapter in your life!! I'll be praying for you.

    *hugs*

    Brooks, I understand.
Brooks, I completely understand. I hesitated going out of the house at all. Sometimes I would get out of the drive way to only drive back in to go to the bathroom. It has improved quite a bit.

    - I suggest eating very little and very bland food such as dry toast, bananas, etc. for the trip. Immodium was wonderful for helping me. They do not want you to take too much of it (never everyday). It really works for me.

Good luck and let us know how it goes. We are pulling for you!

    (Did you get my email?)

How funny - Albany is just about 45 minutes up I-5 from where I live! It's a cute, quaint small town. Hope that your interview goes well.

    Time

    Hang in there, Brooks

Time is the big healer - your bowel has been jerked one way and then another - it's trying to find which way to go. It will re-learn, but takes some time.

I don't blame you about being apprehensive on the plane - those "water closets" aren't good on a good day - I was 2 years from my surgery before I boarded a plane, and had the same anxieties that you did - nothing happened fortunately - but if it had, oh baby...

Good luck on your interview - maybe it will all go down in your "off moments" and when it's over, then...

    Cross your legs, LOL:)
