    Mike,
What great news! So glad you have this one thing off of your plate. Wonderful that your kids can (hopefully) feel like the court system is really out to help them.

I know what you mean about showing up in court looking a little worse for wear. I had to face my ex last month in court. Outside the courtroom was a sign saying that cell phones and hats were prohibited - my friend later said that was perfect, since no one could go against a pitiful bald woman. Very glad that the judge was wise enough to realize that even if you're very ill, you're the only acceptable option.

So, 6 days? Great. Hope you can get this last leg completed, and get on to the business of speedy recovery. I'm almost 2 weeks since last chemo, nearly 1 since last rad, and I'm already showing signs of recovery. Hope it's at least as quick for you.

    Big weight off!
    Hi Pam,

I'm so glad you're all done with treatment and you'e getting better. I'm looking forward to that as well!

Yes, today was a great weight off, I'm still having a hard time believing it's finally over.
    I really hope it is.

I was afraid the judge was going to make it an issue as to whether or not I could take care of my son being sick. Even sick, I think the judge new the kids were safer being with me than with my ex, as he never brought it up.

    Keep getting better Pam!

    What a day!
    Hi Hondo,

Yuppers, this is the final week! Yippie!!! It actually ends on Monday, the 29th.

The day started off very scary, as radiation's machine had broken down earlier, and by the time I got out of there and home to change into dress clothes and drive back down town in heavy late afternoon traffic, I was almost late to court. That would have been very bad.

When my crazy ex saw me enter the courtroom she couldn't stop staring at me, as I'm now 60lbs lighter, burnt swollen lips, big radiation sores on the back of my neck, radiation burns on both sides of my throat and surgery scars on my neck. (real hunk huh? lol)

She then came to my part of the table that faces the judge and started putting her hands on me, and started crying, asking me if I had cancer, was I sick? I kept telling her to take her hands off me and go sit down. This went on for nearly five minutes and finally the judge entered the courtroom and she had to go back to the other end of the table.

Then the judge started staring at me and said "I'm going to ask you a personal question".
I responded with "Do I have to answer it in this arena?" He said "No, but I"m going to ask it anyway and if you do not want to answer it then just say that you decline to answer".

He then said, "You look very different from almost 2 months ago, are you ill?" I said "I've been under the weather lately", he smiled at me, knowing I wasn't going to give him a strait answer if I could get away with it. He then asked, "Are you well enough to go through todays hearing?" I said "Yes". and that was the end of that. But the ex, who was so tearful and concerned a couple minutes before, immediately started bashing and blaming me for everything. The judge caught her lying and then put her under oath.

In the end, the judge ruled against her motion in trying to get the previous judges Order of no parenting time, and no contact reversed.

I'm so glad this is over. For her to get another chance at this in court in trying to get the "No Parenting Time or Contact Order" overturned, she would have to Ex Parte a judge and convince him to go against what todays judge ruled today. I don't see that happening any time soon.

After the judge made his ruling, she started yelling at him, saying that she was taking this to the media. I was really hoping that he would hit her with contempt, but he knows she's nuts.

Other than truly fearing that she might appear with a loaded gun and shoot my butt, I feel like a big load has been taken off. The kids were very happy when they found out the final results.

Now, I can finally concentrate on making it through this final week.

Thank you for your never ending words of encouragement.

That is very good news, one less burden off your shoulder and I am sure the kids are relieved to know that they are now safe. I do admit I feel sorry for the ex, because somewhere deep down hidden in her heart she still has feeling but she has let her anger control her life so long to the point that those feeling are buried under hate and confusion.

Only 4 more treatments to go brother you should be able to do these standing on you hear. lol I am going to celebrate your passing the finish line with a big glass of fruit juice on the 29th.

    Hondo,

Yes, I too feel bad for her, it's obvious that her mind was broken by her ex boyfriends treatment to her and she now has so much history confused. She's so full of hate, especially towards me. She told flat out lies in court, enough that the judge put her under oath again and caught her on them. But, the sad thing is that I could tell that she truly believed everything she was saying and I think the judge recognized that as well.

    John,

I think I can finally tell that it's sunlight at the other end of the tunnel and not another flippin train coming at me. lol

    Sweets,

Yes, I too am very glad that the judge saw that she is a very troubled and confused woman, and that he sided for us. My kids are very happy and they're breathing a little easier now.

Nutrition has been a very big problem. They told me yesterday that I have lost way to much of my muscle mass and that I am basically like a starving person from Ethiopia.

The stinkin supplier for the canned food said they were having difficulties and had not shipped it like they told me they had. My radiation Doc was very ticked...again!

Tonight, I was able to put in my PEG, 640 calories of Carnations Instant Breakfast mixed with Half N Half, but that's not enough. I don't know if it's because how rich liquid foods are, but I get sick to my stomach very easy and have to go very very slow.

With this crazy schedule between radiation and hydration every day and the two not in the same area, and cooking meals for the kids when I finally do get home, it's been very difficult for me to have enough time to sit to do my feeding process before I collapse.

I am so very exhausted and fatigued all the time now. Today, my poor daughter had to wheel me around all of my appointments in one of the hospitals wheelchairs. When we first arrived my left leg started going numb from my hip down and I almost fell several times and walking became impossible.

The Doc told me later that I most likely had a pinched nerve, since I no longer have a butt, or any fat to protect the nerves back there. Luckily, by the time I finished my last appointment, enough feeling had returned that I was able to walk to the vehicle and drive.

I want to thank you all for your never ending support and concern.

Mike I lost so much weight the first & second time that I had to prop up myself on one side to sit on the toilet for fear of falling in and flushing myself down. I look back and laugh at it now but was hard to believe I lost so much weight.

Hang in there champ you are on home stretch and I am fixing to pore the grape juicy to solute you while passed the finish line

I would never have thought I would fear a toilet. lol

Today, all the chemo and radiation nurses were extremely upset that Apria Health Care still had not shipped me the replacement food.

I will be so glad when this is all over with, all my energy has been depleted. I now have to use a wheelchair if I have more than 30 feet to walk, or otherwise I get light headed and naucious.

They also told me today that I will have to wait longer than the scheduled 2 weeks to have surgery to repair the exposed jaw bone areas, as I am now too weak to have any surgery.
This is really making my anger towards Apria increase.

I'm sure that had it been a close relative to whoever is in charge of getting that stuff shipped, it would have been done several weeks ago.

do you know what it is called? maybe we can look it up and get it shipped from someone else? riddiculous. you are right. people should treat people the way they would want their loved one treated.

i understand about feeling sick and needing to go slow with the feeding. (that's what happened to me after rads and i got down to 88lbs) i really think you should talk to your docs about getting a pump like i have for your feeding. you have the kids you are cooking for and taking care of, you are busy, and we need to get some nutrition in you. when you get your food, the pump, or at least even a gravity bag would make it easy on you. you could be getting almost all the cals you need while sleeping. do you have your own nutrition people? actually, irc it was my gastro lady that reccomended i should get the pump, then the nutrition people made it happen.

you can tolerate the carnation instant breakfast? that's good. how about yogurt thinned with skim milk? or yogurt smoothie? bolthouse farms protein drinks? naked juices? all stuff i have managed to put in feed tube. thinned baby foods like sweet potatoes, sqash, carrots. do you have a juicer? i could send you mine if you wanted.

having a boney backside stinks. i remember complaining to my friends sister about trying to sleep at night because the bed springs were digging into my boney hips and arse. the sister was so nice, she got me a suprise xmas gift of a thick memory foam pad and new sheets for my bed. made a big difference.

as far as being buttless, i just saw a commercial for booty pop underwear for women. guys are out of luck.

Tomorrow is Friday, that means only two more rads to go my friend.

As you begin to look back at the journey you have just taking it does not make us weaker is only reinforces our inner strength to keep us going forward.

The light at the end of the tunnel is shining bright for you, or maybe it is you whose shining so bright with all that rad in you, anyway you are almost there my friend.

    Rads Technicians Visit
Mike, I went in a few days ago for follow-ups for both my chemo doctor and my rads doctor. It's been since mid June last year for me that I finished my last chemo/rads. I decided to ask if I could visit the rads technicians that were with me everyday last summer as I was being treated. I routinely visit my chemo nurses and enjoy that a lot.

It was really nice to see the rads techs again for both them and myself, especially under normal conditions and just a nice visit. We all hugged and enjoyed conversation and a few jokes. It made a nice closure to a bad situation that I had endured.

I hope you'll consider that same experience in the months after you are through with this ordeal also. I'll really be happy for you and your children when your life starts becoming "normal" again and you can get on with living and enjoying your life and children.

This ordeal will always stay with you as it does all of us. Like Tim says, in the long run it makes us all stronger. It takes you to a point that you could never imagine that you could endure, but you do, and it makes us all stronger.

Continue kicking azz, and good times are just ahead my friend....

    God Bless,
    John

    God Bless,
    John

    Todays and Mondays, yippie!
    Hi my friends,

To Sweets: I don't know the proper name, but I think it's something like Scandia-Shake,
I thought it was supposed to be a canned drink, but I'm told it's a packaged dry mix, like Carnation's Instant Breakfast, but has 600 calories.

I have been thinking about seeing if I can get a gravity bag feeder, it should make the process easier. I am lactose intolerant, so when I use half N half it comes with it's side effects, but it's tolerable.

You are a sweetheart to offer your juicer my dear. I used to have a Champion several years ago and it was a very good one, I miss having one.

To Hondo: Yes my friend, I do feel like a glow worm! lol Oh, did I tell you that they have now determined that I have Shingles? I don't know why God thought it was a good idea to have me compete with Job. lol I'm one big sore with two feet.

To John: I think the guy that came up with the phrase "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger" probably died, or should have! lol

When I finally am able to put some weight back on I will have two more surgeries, one for my exposed jaw bone areas and the second one for my torn tendons in my shoulder. So I'm not sure how far out "normal" is going to be, I know it will much closer than it has been in a long time!

I know what you mean as far as thinking "I can't make it through another day", but somehow I did. My endurance level is higher than I ever imagined it could be. But, I attribute that to all of you people here, always encouraging me!

Thank you all for being here!

One is a very lonely number
Only one more to go daddy Mike then at lease the radiation will be over. Sorry to hear about the shingles another one of those nasty sides affects of cancer treatment. Like you said you have been through a lot and you are so much stronger for it.

If there is anything good about having cancer it is the people we meet and the friends we make and I am glad to be one of your many friends.

    Shingles
    Hi Mike,
I have been down the shingles road and can give you 1st hand advice. 1. Doctors don't know how to treat it. 2. Naturopaths do.

Shingles is one of the herpes viruses that affects and inflames the myelin sheath (or part of your little nerve transmitters - hence the pain). You would normally be afflicted in one zone of your body and only on one side, depending where in your nervous system the virus has taken residence. Cause is varied but almost always associated with being run down, stressed, and being unbalanced is the diet as mentioned below. No surprise you have been hit.

This virus loves Arginine and hates Lysine (Amino Acids) Arginine is prevalent in Acidic foods i.e. sugars, red meats, alcohol (Esp Red Wine). Lysine is prevalent in green leafy vegetables and root vegetables. You can obtain L-Lysine at your local Vitamin store (crush and put through the PEG). While your diet is almost non-existent, hopefully you will start your feeding soon and get your recovery underway.

I also took Homeopathic medicine from my Naturopath which were an important part of the recovery. I have seen sooooo many times, people with this condition who do not heed the advice given and continue the Arginine rich diet and relying on Zovirax from their doctor and yes 6 months later, they still have it and it's worse and when it gets in your eyes, it can get really bad.

I know you can't really do much with your diet just now Mike and you will need calories but if you can somehow work the Vege soups into your diet ASAP, it will help not just the Shingles, but your recovery from the Rads (Turnips, parsnips, carrots, beet-root + the spinaches, parsley etc cooked and blended).

Of course i would love to have you see a good Naturopath. This is all more for your information so when you get the chance, you can hopefully swing some of the diet etc to help reduce the effects of this added pain in the A___ which you don;t need. I do know if not treated, it can get a hold and be much harder to treat later on. The sooner the better in this case. I know you have a lot on your plate right now but hope this bit of insight helps. Glad to hear Monday will be your last session. You have done amazingly well. I am astonished.

    Wishing you and kids well.
