    I guess that I am fortunate.
    I guess that I am fortunate.

    After surgery, with the cath, I drank 1-2 gallons of water/day.
    I have not had any issues with soda/carb beverages at all.

    I do have issues taking the BP meds that have a diarhetic in it, I call it vitamin P.

    In fact, I just finished a diet coke with lunch, after a 20-oz water first tho. H2O is good for ya, can never get too hydrated in my opinion, learned that from a flight instructor when getting queezy in air - he told me to drink alot before flying (water), it makes you feel better he said, plus, if it doesnt help, it helps the chunks come out easier if you purge :-)

    Luckily it helped me, never got sick while flying.

    I think you are hydrating enough w/water that the other things you are
    drinking are not bothering you....

    this is good to know

    It seems each person is different in how their bodies react...I just know I always feel the best when drinking water..my sweetheart hates water...I love it....besides beer water is my beverage of choice. I also like a good wine as well. I find that wine bothers me less than beer...probably because of the carbonation.

    I am a big water drinker too...now if I could only leave the chocolate cupcakes alone~~~ :-)

    plenty of fluids good for the kidneys
    yes water is great even just a drop of lemon juice or even strawberys cut in water left in the fridge, I found its better to keep the bladder full at first just to help retrain the plumbing we are all differant.I didn,t know that many of my peers on line have had slings placed in to hold the bladder maybe thats why they have had excelant results .I didn,t have that luxury and at about 90 days now feel quite confident being dry now most days past 2 weeks {pad during work ours security blanket maybe after easter I will go padless that dont sound right but you know what I mean )I am going to try no carbonates or artificial cordials see what happens .Best wishes to all may the pads and beds be dry and let the waters flow free shane59

    Try another approach to your recovery that just might work for you: Do the Kegels while actually peeing. (I call it "power Kegels".) This means stop (trap) the flow of urine for 5 repetitions of 5 seconds each while you are peeing... and do this while you are sitting down on the toilet. Then do one final Kegel to competely stop the flow of urine when you are finished.

    Why? Different core muscles come into play automatically while you are standing versus when you are sitting. So, if you notice that you need to pee again, or you are still leaking a bit when you stand up, sit down again and empty your bladder and do a final Kegel.

    Do this exercise routine (with a serious effort) and you will see a marked improvement in your ability to control the incontinence within a few weeks. If not, talk to your doctor.

    Thank you for your honest and supportive information. My husband is going to Johns Hopkins for his surgery April 27, 2010.
    Our first urologist recommended waiting since the scores seemed low Gleason 3x3, PSA 4.9 and I said we are going forward with a biopsy.
    Glad we did because after his rectal examine today, the doctor said he felt the tumor......
    Just think of our shock when another urologist just examined him last week and said he was a good candiate for seeds....
    Large prostrate, can feel the tumor...possibly the nerves on one side cannot be saved.
    WOW! What a day.
