Got a unexpected bill for ostomy supplies today...dummy me thought that because the doc's office wrote a script - that they were like a medication...NOPE! Ostomy supplies are durable equiptment supplies - SO - there is a deductible to meet - oh well..it's only money....and I learned something new today.....

I also pay a deductible for monthly ostomy supplies
since health plan apparently doesn't cover it all. I've also ordered on my own from internet additional supplies, extra clips, so I always have at least a month or two worth of supplies on hand in case any emergency..Also just got hit with huge bill for original PET/CT taken back in May but financial person at cancer center explained how to handle it...steve

I too was shocked that ostomy supplys had there own deductable, but my insurance had a double wammy for me when they reset the at thebeginning of the year and i had to remeet my out of pocket expenses and i was charged full price for these supplies, the medical supply company just took the full amount out of my checking account and i did not know this until i tried to get money out of my account and noticed my balance was $100 short, .

    Big shock for me, I
If you ever run into a emergency need and have no money, the ostomy clinic will give you samples and you can also request samples from the different companies they will send you about two or three at no cost. This works really good if you can wear any style, cause you can get lots of sample from all the different companies that make them.
Cloraplast sent me a rreally nice carrying bag, sissors, seals, cleaners, and pouches.
    Just an idea.

Good Luck with your stoma, mines a monster, ( a live saving monster ).

If you have an ille, be sure to stay hydrated and i found marsh mellow thicken the liquid.
