Just had my first round yesterday. Had Adriamcycin and Cytoxan. Never puked, just got a really bad headache all night. Slept about 4hrs. Nurse said today when I went back to get my shot for my blood, that it was probally because of the anti nausea meds. But I took my pain meds and feel fine. I was really worried about the upchucking part but I sailed right through. I think that what everyone here says,, Everyone is different, no one reacts the same, is very, very true! You never know how you are going to react until you go thru it yourself! I just wanted to let all the other ladies that are getting ready to go for there first chemo to keep in mind that we all ARE different! Just keep a good thought and maybe you'll get lucky like me. I will pray that you strong ladies that are scared of there first chemo, will have an easy day and just know that there are some of us that had no problems at all. They told me that my hair will more than likely start comming out very soon, and they even let me go to the wig room and pick out a free wig and all the hats and scarves that I wanted. I was overjoyed, I will make sure that when my lucky day comes and I no longer need my hats, wigs and scarves,, I will take them to the same place I get my chemo and donate them to other ladies that are following my footsteps.

    Hi tat2
I'm glad you're doing well with your treatments. The shot is what did me in. About 36 hours later you'll start feeling effect of that, like flu aches is all. I never was nauseas through all my 6 rounds, just achy and tired. I hope you sail through, too.

I am so glad to see someone
I am so glad to see someone post who is doing very well with the chemo so far! I to just finished my 1st round of chemo today, TAC. So far so good. I really hope I come through as well as you! However, I am very anxious about losing my hair. I do have a wig and a few scarves but it is just another adjustment I am not looking forward to. My husband keeps telling me to look at it as a sign of healing but I am just now there yet. Best of luck and hugs to you, please post on your progress the next couple days.

    how sweet...
I think that is so sweet of your husband to give you such a powerful mental image---"your own sign of healing"...I am going Monday to my oncologist and see what my plan is. I have no idea--what is TAC that you are getting?

    TAC is Taxatere, Adriamycin
TAC is Taxatere, Adriamycin and Cytoxan. I hope you come up with a good plan on Monday. Is for a chemo plan or something different?

    waiting..
I am waiting for my chemo plan...had lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy on 2/16-5 nodes removed -all negative and clear margins. I am grateful. Pathology is er+ and her2+ and neu is +3......so I am really unsure what it all means....

you-except the headache of course! That's great that you are already wanting to help someone else and it sounds like you have a great attitude!

    me too
I had my first treatment March 4th. Taxotere, carboplatin, and hercepterin. Steroids made me hyper the first few days. Then, for about 4 days, I was pretty nauseous. I now feel good (almost normal) and have been enjoying myself. I am fortunate to be able to work part-time from home, so I am still connected at work, which makes me feel good. I am trying to embrace the impending hair loss. I bought a wig, do-rags, scarves, and some hats. Not sure what I am going to feel comfortable in. I never wear hats except a stocking cap when it is cold. It will be a new experience.
