Dad's feeding tube and stent removal

Well, things didn't go as planned. The stent is embedded in his stomach and couldn't be removed, nor could the feeding tube be placed. He was admitted to the hospital last night waiting to hear the next step. They aren't sure what the next step will be. They said possibly having to open him up to has access to the stent. The food from the night before was still in his stomach. So, this morning they are waiting for the Drs. to come in to discuss the next step. I'm praying they don't have to open him up. I worry the cancer will spread once the air hits. It's all so frustrating. He's very unhappy. I'll update when I can. Please pray for him.

Thanks Sherri for the thoughts!! He just got out of surgery and all went well. They got the stent out and the feeding tube in. I'm so happy they got the tube in. I feel so much better and I know he'll be happy that that part went well. I'll update again soon. I'm waiting to hear back when he wakes up.

    He's awake!!
He's awake and complaining about everything, so he's back to normal!! :+) His complaining is a good thing, we know he feels good when he's complaining and grouchy!!! He's relived that the tube is in. The bad part is that his mediport has completely stopped working, only to find that part out after surgery. That will have to be replaced again. My mom did a feeding and said it went ok, she's scared of the tube, but I think once she does it again she'll feel more comfortable. She's do the next feeding as well. They are using Ensure right now. Tomorrow he can resume a normal diet if all goes well tonight. They are supposed to leave the hosptial at 8am and I hope they can with the big snow coming. Thanks everyone for being here for me. I'd be so lost without all of you!!! This is just such an emotional time as everyone knows.

    Hi Erika,

I'm glad dad is complaining!!!!Tell mom that she will get used to the feedings in no time.

I was a little worried when I didn't get a e-mail at home, so I pray that they get home before
    the big storm.

    LOTS OF HUGS AND PRAYERS

    Thanks everyone!!
They made it home before the snow starting sticking. They are just trying to get used to the feeding tube, but all seems to be going well. The G tube allows some of the gastric fluid to escape, which is BAD. That scares me to death. But, I'm sure they'll get the hang of it. We got a ton of snow, spent all day digging out. Thankfully their neighbor dug them out, we wouldn't make it there. I'll keep everyone updated!! Hugs and prayers to all!!
