Back Pain...

I been feeling abit sore on the right side of my back, low, and sometimes on the back of my shoulder, it's not very painful, just sore, like I pulled something? but my hubby was putting icy hot on it, when he said it looked like I had varicose looking bruises on my back, very small, and reddish looking rashes, very small, that did go away, but has anyone heard of this, and would this be a sign of cancer spread or anything? has anyone had this? I been exerting myself and not sleeping too good this week, because my back is abit sore, but I am worrying that maybe it could be my kidneys or something major?? I feel fine, except for my back at times, which feels like if I don't do stretches, it just feels tight or sore....Should I be worried?

Hugsss!

    Hey
Donna I don't have a clue, just wanted to say hang in there. Maybe you are overdoing things with getting ready for the holidays (you do have 4 kids and that is enough to make a healthy person tired and sore, I get tired just thinking about it), your play and all and your body is telling you to slow down. Heck, I get sore from doing things I won't let George do (like starting the snow blower for the first time this season) and I'm not the one sick, just not used to doing "guy things". I know cancer is the first thing that comes to mind but just kick that thought to the curb. Take it easy girl - Tina

    Hi Donna
    Hi Donna,
You are so active with your kids and the play and Christmas. It is probably just life happening and we're not 20 any more (You're closer to 20 than I am). I don't like you worrying. Can you give your onc a call just so you don't worry over the holiday?

    Take care dear!

    Aloha,
    Kathleen

    I'm OK...
I don't sit and dwell on worrying too long, I have been doing alot, and my body is probably wanting me to rest, I won't worry around these holidays, I'm in good spirits and all, and will be seeing my onc on Tuesday anyway, and then getting chemo, so will get unhooked Christmas Eve! so, I will be abit tired on Christmas, but that's ok too, we aren't going anywhere, and will just sit and play with the kids toys and games LOL... :)

    Hmmm
Have you considered whether it's possible that you have shingles (herpes zoster)? I know that one can get a rash and it can be quite painful. At one point they thought I had it on my eyelid (and it freaked out my onco nurse as she had never had chicken pox) but it turned out not to be shingles. But when they thought I might have it I googled the heck out of it and perhaps you have that. It is quite common for people with suppressed immune systems. Perhaps you can see your PCP before Christmas.

I hope you start to feel better!!!

After years of using that type stuff, I reacted to Icy Hot. My skin looked like little sun burn spots.

Right side of your back and back of your shoulder can be gallbladder. I thought I was having muscle spasms in my right side and it was gallbladder attacks. Just a thought!

Does your costume fit odd and rub in that area? You're moving round quite a bit in your play! You Blubber Elf, You! :o)

    HA Diane!
My part only requires me to wear comfy black walking pants, and a black shirt, along with a jesters hat in the beginning, and then a christmassy elf hat at the end of Act 2, but my part is also quite physical, knocking into people, and also falling, after getting shot, and I wonder if I didn't pull something doing that lol...I'll have her check my gallbladder on Tuesday, wouldn't it be more painful?? now it's only in my shoulder on the right today, and when I breath really deep, it has a "knocked out of breath" feeling to it, also I didn't get any neulasta shots, I only needed it once, and haven't needed it since thank goodness!

    Deep breaths
The onc told me that a deep breath causing a 'stitch in the side' sort of pain is called 'Murphy's Reflex' and is a 'test' for gallbladder attacks. Attacks can be very painful or just uncomfortable and last minutes to hours. Hold you hand on your right side under your liver and take a deep breath. A stitch in your side..... :o)

You are so funny on stage! Wish I could see the whole play.

how is the rash? I still have amazing back shoulder pain after 5 weeks of shingles. The rash comes up like little red bumps that then fill with clear liquid....are you doing that??

my rash was only about 2 inches square....forgive me darling girl....I am not saying you have shingles but I wish you did not have to worry about something new like this pain.

    take best care,

    ONC told me
I was told if it had to do with my liver it would my right side, back and right shoulder and I was to call and let them know if I got pain in these areas. Not that you have liver problems.

    Hi Donna!
Funny you ask this, 2 nights ago I couldn't sleep all of a sudden I had pain in my back and every once in a while it would get severe. I tried walking around, nothing. I thought because of the area it was my gall bladder, I woke my husband up and off to the hospital we went, long story short, after tests etc. Are you ready for this, they said I was FOS! I said what the heck is FOS. well, i guess it's their term for "full of shi_!" with all the meds I'm on especially the oxycontin, it can make you costipated! It was great news, usually when I leave there, they tell me the cancer spread, i think is rather hear I was FOS!
So, don't know if you're going to the bathroom o.k. but it's something to think about!

    Hugs,

    Hey Mags!
the rash went away, it actually looked like a litte red pimple, but not there anywmore :)

I did have the chickenpox when I was 27, I never had them when I was little, but my daughter who was 2 at the time, got it from a child in her daycare, and then gave it to me! it was not fun LOL!

The pain in my back is gone, it has just gone to my shoulder now, it's not painful, just sore! but the oxy seems to help it.

    Well Nana....
...that's what I'm scared of, that my liver is getting worse, I have multiple mets in my liver, and to me, it's only going to be a certain amount of time before it gets worse. I'm not feeling sick, no blood in stool or urine, but the pain isn't painful, it's just sore, nothing I can't handle, but maybe my cancer is getting worse, who knows, I expect it too get worse sometime, the pain in back isn't there anymore, since it seems to now be under my right shoulder blade. My liver doesn't hurt, I don't feel pain there either.

I see my onc and get chemo on Tuesday, so will talk about it then to her. I hate to do this right before Christmas, but maybe she'll set up some scans as well, to see what's going on...I just had scans last month too! that would suck if nothing was happening last month, and now, all of a sudden it was..I can't seem to get a break at all from this cancer, it's been a few months since I been in the hospital, and thought maybe it's finally going to get a little better for me...I'll keep my hope, and hope that my liver isn't ready to fail!

    I will!
I'll let you know what my onc says tomorrow, my hubby thinks I may pulled something. His aunt who was head of respiratory therapy in her hospital said a sign of kidney or liver failure is not being able to go to the bathroom, and my eyes and skin aren't yellow either...now it's not in my back, it's just in between the shoulder blades, and sometimes the right shoulder, it feels like how you would feel after a long workout, achy all over..I don't have shortness of breath, but sometimes you can feel when you take a deep breath, some pain in the back..I feel like I'm 90 years old, I just had chemo a couple weeks, and she said my bloodwork looked really good then, so hopefully nothing major is happening to me, the Folfiri did shrink the tumors.

I also noticed yesterday the little girl in our play has had a chest cold, and on some prescription meds, and hope I just didn't catch something from her! I am just body ache city here! but feel fine once I start moving around. I just pray it's something that will go away quick! lol

    Hugsss!
