Hi Everybody,

I go in for my first chemo tx this AM. I couldn't sleep at all last night just thinking about it and worrying about what kind of side effects I'll have. Please keep me in your prayers today and hope my effects will be minimal. I'll check in later and let you guys know if I'm just being a wimp or what.

Laureen

I can relate, and you are not a wimp in my book.

    Hello Laureen!
You got it! Good vibes, good wishes and many blessings for an easy go of chemo! Try to stay relaxed (I know, easier said than done) and just know your friends here at CSN will help you get through it.

    And Laureen, you're not a wimp - you're a cancer SURVIVOR!

Good Luck Laureen! You can do this, I know if I can, and I'm a wuss, you can! Drink lots of water, and keep on top of the anti-nausea meds. Even if you don't feel sick, take them every few hours for the next few days, I still can't sleep the night before my treatment, and I'm on my 17? now? it's just the thought of having to sit there for a few hours, and if they'll find I can't have the treatment, and so on, but usually, everything turns out ok!

Immodium-AD is good for the diarrhea, fiber and Miralax will keep you regular, try and make yourself stay hydrated, that's important, you won't feel like eating or drinking, but you have to force yourself..I wish you well!

    Hugsss!

I still dread it and this is my second time around (different stuff, tho).Hard as it may be,you can get thru this, Be positive, be strong and never give up-the enemy won't...Best of luck with your chemo and always speak with you onc as side effects arise (as well as asking this site for advice).....Steve

THANK YOU - HAD AN EASY TIME
Thank you everybody for all your good wishes and especially for your prayers. My chemo nurse was the most fabulous guy. He's patient, kind, funny and answered all my questions even if he might have thought it was dumb. It was a very reassuring experience all around. I just felt a little dopey at first - it was probably the anti nausea meds and the rest went very well. I had to go pee 5x in the 3 hrs. I was there but I just sat there munching on crackers and talking to another woman in the same room. When I got home, I was a little tired but nothing bad. I really hope this is the trend of things to come! I go to unhook on Wed. and have an accupuncture treatment on Thursday. Oh, did I ever tell you that I love you guys and really appreciated your encouragement.

    Laureen,
so glad that it went well for you. keep up the good work and all wil be fine, I used to expect the worst, and when it did not get to that point, it felt like I won a prize each treatment. Find a book you have been wanting to read, and curl up and try and enjoy the time, as in relaxing and no phones, tv and such. It can be a good experience.
