I know I posted something about leg pain during chemo last month. But OMG mine are killing me!! Everyday they hurst so much. Starts at my hips, knees, and my ankles and makes it so it's even hard to walk or even sit. I emailed my dr telling him he's going to have to give me something to take this pain away. I just cant take it anymore

    Brooks,
make sure you get some good drugs, the leg pain can be awful, and we go through too much other crap to have to deal with this too!

    Check Potassium!
I had to sit at the infusion center one day during chemo and get 4 units of potassium because it was so low! It took 4 hours for it all to infuse, eat some bananas, and make sure you get the potassium checked. Hope you feel better sweety!

    Hugsss!

    radiation and leg pain
I have this also. During the last part of the chemo/radiation it only happened at night in bed. I was taking 1000mg every 3 hours of percocet just to be able to sleep.

I now have a low burning pain at all times on my ham strings. This sounds strange but bacon & eggs in the morning along with Gatorade at lunch and snack time helps big time. Your nerves are cooked to your legs and they are sending weak sigs to your brain. The radiation folks don't want to admit to doing this to us.

    leg pain
    Hi Brooks,

I'm sorry to hear about all the leg pain you're having. Definitely get after your onc to prescribe something that helps w/ the pain. Someone ele mentioned potassium. Also, low blood levels of vitamin D can cause bone pain. You should get the potassium and vitamin D levels checked in your next labwork blood draw. If either of them are low, definitely start taking extra of what you need. Also- check and see if anyone in your area offers acupuncture to cancer patients for free or at reduced cost. My cancer center (San Diego cancer center,w/ offices in both Vista and Encinitas) offers it for free. I haven't been lately cause I've been busy, but I'm going in this Thursday for an acupuncture session. My lower back and several joints in my left leg (hip, knee, ankle, and big toe) have really been bothering me a lot lately & the acupuncture has helped with that in the past.

    Take care,
    Lisa

    Leg pain
George complained of leg pain a lot during chemo. He would toss and turn and not be able to get comfortable sleeping because of pain in his legs. During the day it was better because he had the braces on his legs, at night it bothered him the most. Tina

    Me too...had the same thing...
Have you had a recent blood test? Maybe your doc can give you a CBC with chem panel - that will tell you if you are deficient in nutrients. I was helped by taking a B-12 or B-Complex vitamin every day. My feet and legs seemed to get worse for a month or two after chemo - I guess it kind of piled up on me. I found that if I kept moving , even though it was a bit painful,it was actually better. I think getting the circulation was good. And WATER!!! Drink up, Brooks. Lots of water. Flush out all those chemo chemicals.

If you're done with chemo - you might think of drinking a detox tea once or twice a day. I like the Yogi Detox Tea - available at most supermarkets. The chamomile/bedtime tea is great too.

Hope it gets better...it will soon...

I got it too, but after about six months of chemo it went away. It felt like I had to keep moving my legs and rubbing them, it would drive me insane. I had to take sleeping pills for it, it was the only time I took sleeping pills.

    Glad your pain free
but did he happen to say what was causing the pain? I am having horrific lower left back pain that shoots pain down my leg, it started with the creepy crawleys, like when your leg falls asleep, to extreme pain where I cant even sit, or stand. With the move and all I havent been able to get to a doctor. I honestly think it has something to do with the radiation, but I am not sure, I know the pain just truly drives me insane. okay done venting..

Sure glad you are feeing better..

    Sorry and Happy
So sorry to hear that you were having leg pain but so glad to read that you picked up a prescription from the pharmacy to help you feel better and that things are in the right direction. It's a good thing that you were able to get something so fast.
