I had the same problem with the heartburn and was using Zantac over the counter medication but did nothing to help me, then my doctor prescribed me Nexium and since I have been taking it I have not had any problems. Hope it works for you.Good luck.

Try mixing 1 or 2 teaspoons
Try mixing 1 or 2 teaspoons of "organic' apple cider vinegar with a little water and gulp it down. This should help tremendously with the heartburn. Plus, it has amazing healing properties. Bragg's is a great brand.

    Heartburn....
Only thing that worked for me was plain old baking soda and water......worked like a charm! If you are taking Decadron, a steroid, that is mostly to blame, I was told....

    Doubling up on Prilosec
    Hi, Vicki -

I had BAD heartburn after each round of chemo -- I was already taking over-the-counter Prilosec, and my doctor suggested that I simply take two pills each morning instead of one. I didn't know you could do that, but it worked really well.

I wouldn't do it without checking with your doctor first, but, if he thinks it would work for you, it's easy to find Prilosec at the drugstore.

    My doctor prescribed
My doctor prescribed Prilosec for me, it works and my insurance pays for it since it is still a prescription. You need to take it everday. I also became lactose intolerant while on chemo so be carefull with dairy

    my first was the worst
after that I never had the severe heartburn again. Meanwhile I bought all the meds and now they sit on my bathroom counter, unopened. I did like Pepcid Complete. And I got that advice from a person in our boat who had success, too.

    Pepcide AC and Zantac. No
Pepcide AC and Zantac. No citrus, including orange juice or tomatoes. Let your doc know because they can give more meds in your IV before the chemo yo help reduce it. I am up to 5 stomach meds before my chemos.

    I'm not going through chemo
I'm not going through chemo but a small glass of water with 1/2 tsp baking soda works wonders for me any ole time the heartburn or acid reflex sets in..
