Hey guys & girls,

Been a while since I have posted,I have only done 4 treatments of Chemo. I am getting so fatigued and depressed. I just don't have any ambition to do the things I like to like come on theses message boards. I have started taking antidepressants again. I guess it will just take time for them to kick back in. Also been taking Decadron for nausea, but it makes me a bit of a jerk to Sheri, so I am limiting the Decadron and using a combo of Zofran and Compazine which seems to be working for now. looking for any words of wisdom to get over this temporary hump.

Don

    Count Down!
    Hi Don,

Sorry, but I keep trying to post and it won't let me.

COUNTDOWN! Sorry that I don't have something more profound to say, but keep counting down. You are 1/3 done. Just do what you have 2 more times, and you'll be done with chemo! You need to rest, rest, rest, now, so that you can go back to a busy full life very soon. Hang in there!

    Fatigue
It is very normal to feel the fatigue and I had the decadron also. I was quick tempered sometime, but I attributed it to just having cancer and the fatigue. The decadron just wired me up so bad though. I would only sleep for about 10-12 hours in three nights. You need to let your body tell you what it needs. Right now you need to take it easy and don't push yourself to do more than you feel physically able to do. It's always nice to do something fun (if you are able) the week you are off treatment, that way you have something to look forward to. Hope you feel better soon.

    Hang in there Don...
Temporary hump. You said it! This too shall pass.

I just spent the better part of this weekend lying in bed after suffering radiation related fatigue so know a little of what you are going through. I also remember the long nausea spells and fatigue of chemo. Be gentle with yourself Don and surrender to your body's need for lots of rest.

Are you scheduled for 12 treatments?

    Best wishes... Rob; in Vancouver

    One day at a time
You are in the fight of your life and us caregivers know it. My husband was a little harsh from the Decadron so I tended to walk away for a few minutes and try to ignore it. He is fighting this monster for me also so a kiss on the forehead is what he needed. Keep up the good fight, one day, one treatment at a time.

    Hi Don
I remember back when I was doing the heavier duty chemo how the fatigue would get me. I'd sleep many hours for many days. I can relate to how you feel. It sounds from your post that you were on an antidepressant then went off it. Have you considered staying on them until your treatments are done?
I remember the short fuse too. Try to hang in there, the time does go quickly believe it or not. I know you're limited as to what you are ALLOWED to take for the nausea, I hope you can find some relief.

    decadron can lead to depression
You're probably aware of this, but decadron can cause depression once you come off it. I certainly felt that way once the day after my last decadron pill during an early round of Folfox. I don't normally get depressed, but that day I had the weight of the world on my shoulders. After that, I was careful not to read too much into things on day 4 of chemo.

    Hope you're feeling better.

    Thanks all
I tried to post last night, but couldn't due to problems with the site. I really appreciate all the words of encouragement and prayers. It really does help to realise I am not alone on this journey. Phil, Yes I am not allowed, but have tried it and it works. I will be getting a card to get legal and take my chances.

Hang in there! I too have
Hang in there! I too have been fighting depression and extreme fatigue which is difficult when I am a single mom with three young children who need me. Hope that you get it all sorted out and get lots of rest and energy soon.

    Vicki,
Thanks for the kind words, but after reading your post I feel kind of selfish for feeling sad. You have way more on your plate than I do. here's to it all working out for you.

    feel kind of selfish
Dont stress about it Don. I have times that I'm down. I go to my room and just cry. We people with cancer are so ahead of everyone else. We know how it is to face death and the true meaning of fight for our lives. It's a lot for anyone to handle. We are ahead of the curve!!
