When I finally got my date for surgery (Oct 30th) I was kind of upset about the waiting. I have turned that emotion around and now I'm very thankful.

My work, family, & friends are now involved in the "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" walk that will be held in Baltimore, MD on Oct 25th. If my surgery date had been earlier, I would not have the opportunity to participate.

If any ladies here are in the Baltimore area and planning to walk, I hope I get the opportunity to say Hi!!! This is my first (of many) walks since diagnosis and I am excited & blessed that I am able to attend.

Luv to all! Sherri

I'm not in that area but
I'm not in that area but glad you are able to go. Take lots of pictures and make a photo book to look at during recovery for support. Hugs.

I am sorry that your surgery
I am sorry that your surgery got postponed Sherri. But, that is great that you can do the walk against bc. You will love it and it will be very emotional, so, take lots of kleenex's or hankies. I pray for a cure someday!

I am soooo looking forward to the walk!! I was able to go down to DC for the 3 day/60 mile walk and cheer on the participants. That was very emotional for me. Thanks for the reminder of the kleenex & hankies didn't even cross my mind!!

Sherri, welcome. I walked my first Making Strides a week ago. It was very emotional to see so many supporters, survivors, etc. This was my first of many. Good luck to you! I posted a couple of pictures. It was a beautiful and sunny day and very enjoyable walk on the beach for an even better cause!!

    Hi Sherri
I watched the Baltimore Komen Race for the Cure in Hunt Valley yesterday on the news. I am not able to do the walk, and in that rain it would have been impossible. A friend of mine did the Washington DC walk, and had my picture on her shirt. Are you going to be involved in the Howard County Walk next year? I just got the notice on email of the kick off meeting. I wanted to do that walk with my friend, but I got sick. Then wanted to do the Laurel overnighter and turned out there was a huge storm and it was cancelled. I was kinda weak this year and had nobody to go with me to help me carry camping stuff for the overnight, so had to cancel. Unfortunately, when I explained my dilemna, nobody from the group stepped up to the plate and offered a ride (even from my church group), so I didn't go. Can you tell I'm still ticked off on that one? Anyway - next year is a new year and I hope to be able to participate in some of them.

    Thanks Pat!
I'm walking this Sunday coming up! I'm so excited! I have no information on the Howard County Walk????? Is there a way for me to sign up?? I would be VERY interested in doing something local. If the kick off meeting is before Oct 30th, (surgery date) I would love to attend. If it is, and you wanted to go, and need a ride, I have no problem meeting a new friend and attending together. Also wasn't aware of overnighter in Laurel??

I have already purchased some items to sell as fund raisers for next year. Hats, pins, beads, antenna toppers etc...and that's just the beginning. Decided to start now with the purchase of some of these things so it wouldn't hit my pocket so hard when the time comes. Also my diagnosis was too late to really participate in many things this year.

So....if you can get info to me about Howard Cty walk and would like to or need a ride let me know.

    Sherri :)

    WALK!
I just did the BC cancer walk in my area... I did the 5K competitve walk. This is the 5th year I've done this, my 2nd time since diagnosed. Last year I was out of radiation about 2 weeks before the event. It just becomes more powerful. This year there were 5500 registered but with the pouring rain about 3000 showed. I came in 6th in the survivor category and I'm just so excited!! It really isn't about the time but it is about the time in your life....walk and enjoy!!
