Hi all---my dad is recovering form his chemo rad. at Duke for esophageal can dx in Aug--it is a stage 3 or possiibly 4--(?lymph nodes). He will be re staged in 2 weeks---needs appetizing simple HIGH CALORIE FOODS mostly soft I guess that he can try--he has always been thin and small (5'4")but has lost about 15-20 pounds(only started at 150-155 I think...)

    try this
we didn't have that problem but knowing he has to eat soft foods, go with potatoes bake or boiled, peanut butter, eggs, yogurt, gravy bread, things like that and there is high protein drinks also.

Hope is doing better let me know.

My husband, also stage 3 w/
My husband, also stage 3 w/ possible 2 lymph nodes affected, likes different things - depending on his craving at the moment. Sounds weird but he can down hot dogs (no buns, just the meat), cheese, protein shakes, chicken noodle soup w/extra salt (he loves salt but didn't use to), icee's, soft chicken w/gravy and soft cooked rice, steamed broccoli, burritos w/ no lettuce.

I hope this gives you some ideas to try. Also, I don't know if your dad has a hard time taking pills but this is what my hubby has to do. He's been dissolving them in water, or if they're capsules, he just opens them up and swallows the inside of it and tosses the capsule in the trash.

    Blessings,

    Hi,
    There is also something

    Hi,

There is also something called benecalorie. It's 1.5 ounces and it's about 330 caleries. My dad HATES it and won't drink it. It has protein and of course the caleries. We also tried Carnation Instant breakfast VHC, I believe!! you can only buy it online and it has 560 caleries. Again, my dad hates it. He won't drink any of these. My mom tries to sneak protien powder in his drinks too. Maybe your dad will like them. Let me know if you try them.

    HOW WEIRD
My husband has craved POPCORN like going out of style and he use to not ever hardly ever eat it, and anything sweet and he was never ever a sweet eater, yes my husband can down things just like yours, and when he was released from the hospital they advised steam vegatables due to the softness (now isn't this weird) that mine has had the surgery and he craves things like your husband. He has to be scoped every 2 weeks to stretch his esophogus so that is just an insight but he still eats soft foods

I love reading different peoples thoughts and love yours today

    Blessing and hugs
