Hey you fabulous Semi-colons!

It seems to me that there are a whole lot of folks on the boards these days who are juicing. I cannot tell you how that warms my heart since 8 years ago I was the only one (except SpongeBob who was "getting juiced"! HA!) so I felt pretty alone. Not anymore yeehaw!

I'm just curious who all is juicing as part of their cancer healing protocol and can you share what kind of juicer you are using.

I have a Champion Juicer.

This is what I'm juicing these days:

carrot
kale
cabbage
romaine
granny smith apple

Semi-colons ROCK THE HOUSE!

    I'm not juicing, but I'm
I'm not juicing, but I'm eating lots of fresh fruits and veggies - no processed foods - no red meat - very minimal dairy, no processed sugars. The only fat I'm using is a little olive oil. With the snow every day this last week, we've come to the end of the fresh garden veggies - I've got a bin with a few tomatoes cucumbers, zuchinni, and peppers left. And we have butternut squash and potatoes that will last a while too. I will be sad to see it end. I need to get to back to Mexico soon where I can have my fresh mango, pineapple, melon and veggies. It is so hard to get myself to eat those plastic things we get in the grocery stores here all winter.

I'd rather sink my teeth into my food than juice it. I am eating carrots, cabbage, romaine and apples - the only thing on your list I'm not eating right now is kale. No matter how you get it in, I feel it is very important to eat healthy - especially to fight cancer. Juice it, chew it, whatever, just do it.

My brother asks me if after comparing my lifelong diet to most people, and me ending up with colon cancer, if I wouldn't just like to say the hell with it all and sink my teeth into a big juicy steak. My answer - HELL NO!

    I will join the juicers
I am looking at juicers. A friend who is a Hodgkins survivor of 10 years said that is the first thing I should do. She has a Champion, we are looking at the champion or the Omega 8003. Any thoughts? I hope to order it by Friday afternoon!

    Juicing
Hi Emily, I've been juicing everyday since I got new mets. Not sure at first what to juice, but kinda go along, and I bought a book, some juicing bible.
    Usually, everyday I do :
Carrots, 1 beet, 1 apple, kale or spinach or cabbage.
I hope I'm doing the right thing, not sure, I also add in some acai sometimes.(comes frozen unsweetened)
I tried to do the green juice at night but it's a little hard to go down. Would be happy for your input.
    Lots of love,
    Donna

    Juicer
    Hey Emily,
I don't have a champion juicer, do you think it's better than the other juicers? I got a Breville Juice fountain.
    What do you think?

    Hi Emily!
    Great thread!!

I can't remember if i told you that i finally found a used Champion!! I love the thing! I used to have the juiceman II, which seemed to give more juice, but after reading the Gerson recommendations, i scrapped it. He says definitely NO centrifugal juicers because they destroy too much of the cell walls and cause faster oxidation. Of course those are the cheaper ones, usually. Anyone interested in finding a used juicer, try eBay. My dream is for a Green Star, but those are $450!!

Here is the juice i do everyday (all organic):

    carrots
    apples
    celery
    blueberries
    banana
    1 tsp. superfood
    1 tsp. probiotics
    1 tsp. goji powder
    1 tsp. cacao powder
    1 tsp. MSM powder

I juice the carrots, apples, and celery, then put all that in a blender to mix the rest. It doesn't taste that great, but i'm pretty used to it now, and i know it's super healthy.

    Hugs!

    Thanks to you emily
We have a champion juicer. When my husband was diagnosed we delayed chemo to try and get pregnant. During that time he drank three 12 oz glasses a day. This was a three month period. During chemo he drank 1 or 2 glasses on his off week. Now that he's done he drinks the juice irregularly but has had several glasses. We just had our baby last Saturday so we have no routine but I hope to get into a juicing rythm again soon.

We typicall use some or all of the following:
    carrots
spinach or kale or romain (often at least two of these)
    celery
    apple
    beets
    lemon
    Ginger
    kyo green powder

    thanks again Emily!

I have been juicing for 7
I have been juicing for 7 years. I have a Juiceman. I was going to get a better juicer (when mine broke) but was in a resale shop and saw the same Juiceman (as what I had in the past) for $4.00.
    No brainer!!!

    My preferred juice is:

    spinach and/or kale and/or romaine
    celery
golden delicious apple (like the sweeter taste of golden delcious)
    ginger
    carrots

    My best to all.

    ...@ Phil

I will be joining the juice club, when I order my Omega 8005, I had to pay a couple of bills this week darnit, but hubby promised my juicer will be ordered here in a couple days.

I have never tried it, in fact bought some arrot juice in a bottle, and it was nasty, maybe it'll be better if I juice it myself. But, you got me motivated enough to want to try it, and hope for the best, it sure can't hurt :)

I just bought a juicer last
I just bought a juicer last week and thus far only did apples and strawberries...once! I plan to get some kale, cucumbers and carrots this weekend to add to my stock and begin juicing at least once daily. It's kind of difficult since I'm still working full time, raising 3 kids and battling this fatigue, but i'm going to get it in there!

Great post. I just ordered a book on building a greenhouse. I will have to grow my own veggies since I live in the boonies and the closest store with organics is 120 miles away. I told my husband I would be juicing-probably will do so inconsistently until I can get my veggies unless anyone has any suggestions.

    Sharon...
..I live in the boonies too without alot of health food stores as well, I'm looking online to try and find a place you can even order from, the powders and stuff, but there are Walmarts all over here, where they don't even sell veggies organically, and the best fruits are out of season, but will still keep hunting myself!

    Juiced in Southern California
    Hello.

We've been juicing for about three years.

Initially, I bought a Breville Citrus Juicer and a Breville Vegetable Juicer. I love the citrus juicer and use it almost daily. It even juices pomegranates! Fresh pomegranate juice is absolutely wonderful.

I wasn't as fond, however, of the Breville Vegetable Juicer. I found it tedious to clean and the size of the unit was a problem on my counter and in my sink.

Recently, I purchased an Omega VERT. It is a new unit by Omega and is pricey. (I paid about $350 for the juicer but, heck, our anniversary is coming up. Some women get jewelry; I'm big on kitchen appliances! ) I've had it for a week and so far it is absolutely wonderful.

I juiced fresh strawberries and kiwi this morning and I didn't even have to nudge my husband to get him to drink his juice.

Typically, I juice carrots, apples, beets and chard. That is my default recipe.

Living as we do in Southern California, we are minutes away from a huge Vietnamese community. Although we follow a strict low fat vegan diet (I guess Phil isn't going to accept invitations to our table, either!), I'm nevertheless a "foodie" and I enjoy shopping in ethnic markets. The Vietnamese markets have an assortment of vegetables and fruits that is truly amazing and Vietnamese cuisine incorporates large amounts of greens into prepared dishes. This means, of course, that you can find green leafy vegetables that you can't name but you can juice and enjoy. Also, I frequently add fresh ginger to our juices but I've discovered that you also can buy fresh turmeric bulbs and I juice them as well. The ginger and/or the turmeric give the juice a nice kick.

    Not sure
    Hi Donna!

I have a Champion because I was able to borrow a friend's and liked it better than my JuiceMan so my mom bought me one. So that's what I know.

I think Kris Carr uses a Breville (if I remember correctly) and promotes that.

Please see her website--google Crazy Sexy Cancer. She is a hoot and a half and is keeping her "incurable" cancer at bay. She has quite a story.

You can go to www.discountjuicers.com and look at their comparison chart. Also, www.mercola.com weighs in on his juicer opinion.

I like the ease of clean up for my Champ but I don't like how the juice comes out. That's my only beef. It's a workhorse of juicers though, I can tell you that. It's been used just about every day for over 8 years and still runs like a Champ.

Don't know if this helps. Important thing is to get a juicer that will work for you.

    peace, emily

    Buying Club?
You may want to find out if there's a Food Buying Club in your area. Google United Foods. I think that's the name. You could contact your nearest coop (even the 120 miles away one) and see if they know of a food buying club in your area. This is home delivery and members then pick up their orders at the drop off site. I did this for 16 years until I moved here. Now I just go to my local coop. It's worth checking into and you can get 25# bags of juicing carrots, other produce and it's all organic.

    hope this helps.

for the input on the Breville. The Omegas always seem to be recommended.

I love ginger in my juice too. :-) Haven't tried tumeric yet.

    I hear ya!
If your kids are old enough have THEM juice you! That's what I did. My hubby took the evening juicing and my oldest daughter, who was 13 at the time, did the morning and I think I did the noon juice.

Juicing will help with the fatigue. It's just like exercising...the more you do the energetic you feel which helps you to exercise....the more you juice the more energetic you'll feel so the more motivated you will be to juice!

Get those kids to help! :-)

peace, emily who has 5 and knows what you mean! (though my full time job was healing my cancer and homeschooling my kids at the time)
