I too was quite concerned about the nausea side-effects of carbo/taxol (since I hate vomiting and being dizzy). But, knock on wood, after 5 chemo sessions, I have not had a real problem with it. What I've done is to get ahead of the nausea. I was told by my ONC and nurses that if I felt even a tinge of it, to take the meds. The 2nd or 3rd day after chemo, I depended on Zofran (and you're right, they're expensive so I was only given 9 - for 3 days, which is about what insurance would pay). After that, Ativan does the job, if EVER you feel that tinge. Ativan also helps at night, if you can't sleep. I find it's a miracle drug of sorts.

Like the other ladies said, hydrate. It's good for you -- particularly those electrolyte infused waters like Smart Water. Also, ginger is the best thing if you're feeling nauseated at all, wether in tea form or candy. I always keep these in my bag as they're effective nausea settlers. :-) The most effective ones are "Go Naturally Organic Ginger Candy" They're hand made/gluten free/natural -- and EFFECTIVE. Here's the website: www.hilsidecandy.com.

Everyone reacts differently. It's my hope that carbo/taxol doesn't nauseate you. It's a pretty good combo for getting rid of those pesky cancer tumors though.

    best,
    c

Hi........I had 8 rounds of taxol/carbo and was never nauseated. Treatments were just horribly dibilitating, and got more tiring with every treatment. Hang in there!
