edited March 2014 in Esophageal Cancer #1
Well, just wanted to let everyone know that he is doing great according to his gastro doctor, he has no tumor, no masses or no CANCER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he said he looked really good other than his esophogus has to be stretched, he is a 10 and needs to be a 18, so they stretched him to a 12 today and he goes back in 3 weeks for it to happen again. I was so excited to get such good news we needed good news. Therefore everything we have done and are doing has worked. For everyone out there keep your BIG GIRL PANTIES/BIG BOY UNDERWEAR, around as you see it works, it did for me and will for you. Hang in there everyone through chemo radiation and surgery. If we can do it you can too.

Remember to keep prayers going and keep saying them for everyone on this site, so we can kill Cancer,

Love to you all
Lori aka MOE

Im glad your husband is doing better
It truly is great news! I am keeping the prayers going for you and all who are affected with cancer.

This is the first I've heard about stretching the esophagus. Your husband had his esophagus removed right? I have 9 more days for my surgery, I wonder if this is part of the after treatment. The more i read here, the more I am confused on what is to come. Gosh I should have lots of questions for my doctor, but i'm not sure what to ask. I have a pre-op appointment with him next week. I better start writing my questions down.

I have my BIG BOY UNDERWEAR on though...

    GOD bless

    Good Luck
    Luis,
Good Luck to you and yes....write those questions down. I have a pad and pencil in a couple of locations in the house...and everytime I think of something....I write it down right away...or else I would forget. Then the day before our Dr's appts, I gather up my notes and organize them...that way we are prepared for when we see the dr. Helps a lot.
My husband is not a candidate for surgery..unfortunately....stage iv...so I can't help you with your issues....but I would think you would hear from others on this site.
    Stay strong.

More on my diagnosis & upcoming surgery
It is nice to meet you William (Billy) Marshall aka "willam66"

I have EC stage 3 n1 I believe. After reading your message, I realized I don't know much about my own case. I have read so many things lately I guess nothing is sticking. It looks like I had the same kind of treatment as you, 2 sessions of Chemo and 5 weeks of Radiation. I've had a feeding tube for about 3 months now and I believe I will be keeping it for a while after the surgery.

I am afraid I don't know much on the procedure. I feel like if I wasn't paying attention in class when my doctor was explaining the procedure. It made perfect sense to me when he was telling me. By the way, my doctor is Dr. Bradley Bartos, from Kaiser Permanate in San Diego, California. This is my understanding: first step he will remove the esophagus and part of the stomach. He will clip both ends and provide drainage. I will be at the hospital for recovery of this procedure. Then he will form the stomach stretch it and attach it. He is waiting these five days so that I have a better chance of it healing nicely. (his words to me not the technical term).

I do want to know more about this procedure and the name of it. This is definitely a question I will be asking next Monday.

Thank you for attaching the response to Selma. I found it very useful

Best of all, having you say you split a steak with your wife means to me that I can at one point have STEAK again!!

    GOD Bless
