Has anyone else here used either esiac tea or black raspberry powder during their treatment of ec? We have used both and I just wondered if there were others to make comparisons with.

Yes, you have to be careful and work with your onc and rad docs
You have to ensure you aren't doing anything that works against the treatment you are receiving...OR you have to decide you prefer to go natural and don't DO the chemo/rad. But it does not good to take two things that are known to work against each other!

Filling in your doc on EVERYTHING is so important. Also, they can then track patients who do this or that, and put together stats to see if it is worth study.

There are a lot of things sold to cancer patients, too, which really aren't helpful. Your doc can guide you on many of these issues. We tried to stick with things that had large university studies behind them and to talk to our doctor in depth on what to do and what not to do.

    Yes we do!!!
We are currently scheduled for Oct 29, but we are hoping that the guy who can't decide if he wants it on Oct 15 will trade dates with us! We would like to move forward quickly.

Yes, you must never give up, and if one doc says "ohhhh this is not something we can fight" you have to find a doc who will fight. After all, life itself, is terminal right? But if you can have great quality of life and extend that experience --that is what it is all about. You can't win if you don't play--so you have to keep in the game and keep fighting.

As YOU very well know! Never ever say "ohhh the stats are against me." You are a statistic of ONE :)

ps will we be in hospital at the same time perhaps? I know you guys got approved right? We can compare!

    Can't wait to compare notes
I know I hope you get your date moved up then you guy can go before us. I have one question
will the surgery be MIE or Open. Al's will be MIE. only about 7 small cuts. We also found out that they don't have to remove the entire esophagus just the bottom part which is great.

Your right some surgeons may have not even wanted to try. You just have to keep fighting and never give up HOPE!!

    Great!!!
    Hi,

Both of you and your spouses are so blessed!!! Kath, I'm surprised Dr. Luketich only wants to remove the lower half, that's completely different than when he talked to my dad. Things change all the time!!! BettyinVegas, I'm so happy for you. I read alot about MD Anderson when my dad was 1st diagnosed. I'm so glad to hear you had positive results!! I hope you can have your surgery moved up!!!

    natural additions
We think that the tea, and our wheat grass each morning is what helped Layne's blood count stay strong throughout his chemo. We also believe that the tea helped the chemo--enhanced it so to speak. The black raspberry came from studies at OSU and LSU, where they found it killed esophageal cancer in rats, (stage 1 and 2) and they started human trials. They are also now doing trials with it in melenoma cases.

What alternative meds did you try?

    Betty,

Hello, I haven't been checking the board since Dad passed put just tonight for some reason wanted to check in. My father was stage 4, by the grace of God he was able to be with us for me to give birth to his only grandchildren on Feb. 9th 2009. Dad passed on May 6th.

Dad's treatment failed in Jan. 2009 but started new chemo, Carbo platnium and don't recall the other drugs but he DID try Floral Essence Tea. On his last scan before treatment stopped in April there was a marked decrease in the tummors in his lungs. This tea claims to cleans lungs, liver, stomach. We checked with his dr. and got the ok to try it. Any thing is worth a shot.
    My Best to you
