    Excellent Mimi
Good perception! You are right, our body's are precious!! As far as the question on wellbutirn and the patches.....my oncologist told me yesterday that she would not give me any meds to quit as my liver is going through enough with the strong chemo that i'm on, she did say that I could use the patch, I have used the patch in the past and it does work well!! Wellbutrin and Chantix are a perscription that does not contain nicotine so I believe you are to ween off the cigarettes with these meds because they block the nicotine receptors in your brain. Rubber Room......Good idea :)
Best of luck to you and I as we all battle our bad habits along this stressful ride'
    God Bless,

    wow
I can't believe this! I woke this am and thought about getting on to ask for advice on quitting smoking, but felt embaressed to ask. I to struggle and have for years. I have all the knowledge about meds, patches, hyponosis, you name I've done it. I work in surgery and have seen many tumors removed from different body parts. My fav anut died of lympmoma, started in her lungs (she was my age 48, when dx). We read the reports, see the ones we love pass away, and are made to feel shame about smoking. Lets not even talk about the price! We cont to smoke. I even had a thoriac/cardiac surgeon tell me he would have to put a person like me, in a drug induced coma to help w the withdrawls before he would do surgery on me. How sad is that? He says there are people that have smoking in every fiber of their tissue. I was told that I even picked up cigs when I was 3 and 4 yrs of age and would puff on them. Yes I have brst cancer, but I justify that ( how sad) with it's not a cig cancer! I'm one of those health care providers that stand outside in the winter, summer, and rain to hit a cig. I'm I hopeless? Yes I am, But I'm also tired of running around town looking for the best deal on smokes. Tired of having something " hold" me prisoner.
As far as fighting cancer, people say I'm strong a fighter. I go back to work most times after I get chemo. Only have missed two days related to tx, so why can't I fight this? Coming up with new plan.
I congrats you on getting this far. You have inspired me to give it a try again. Stress is always in our life, there's always something that can trigger a stop by the store to pick up a pack. Stay strong. Sorry this is so long. Wanted to share my thoughts on the subject, and thank you for bringing it up. It's like a sign for me. Katz

Iam still struggling with the trying to stop smoking. Have cut back but have not stopped, Hate it that cigs have so much control over your body and mind.I have tried the wellbutren no help. Last time I quit with zyban for over 2 years, Kaiser doesnt use Zyban so now I will try the patches. Does anyone know can you do patches and take wellbutren at the same time? I've said before, put me in a rubber room and let me bounce !!!

    Wellbuttrin and Zyban are
Wellbuttrin and Zyban are the same drug. Zyban costs 30.00 w insurance and wellbrutin costs 5.00 w insurance. Mark one up to the drug manufactors! lol I've been on patches and wellbrutin combo. It's fine. Wellbrutin does not contain nicotin like the patches and that's where the prob would be. Good luck fighting yet another beast. Katz
