In the Hospital

Hi everyone,

I just thought I'd let everyone know that I am in the hospital again at Mercy, in my local town. At this point I don't have any surgical needs so we are staying in town because they did not think I was stable enough to make the trip to Mayo. As for why I'm here....I was throwing up bile all night (Thurs. evening), and had been doing so for quite a few nights. So, once about 5:00 a.m. hit, I was really struggling, my heart was beating really fast and I couldn't catch a breath. So Patrick loaded me in the car and brought me to the emergency room. They automatically started working with me, as my oxygen level was barely 80% and my heart rate was 190-200....yikes!! They immediately did an ekg and an ultrasound of my heart, and chest x-rays. I was admitted to the icu, where I am now...they put an ng tube in to get rid of the bile that is building up in my stomach, they're not sure why it's doing that, partly what they're trying to figure out. Also, I have pneumonia in my lungs, and fluid around one of my lungs, so they also inserted another one of those darn chest tubes. As for now they have me on antibiotics to get rid of infection, they are giving me nutrients through a central line as I cannot have anything by mouth besides ice chips. I guess that's about all I know at this point, they're keeping an eye on me and trying to figure out exactly what's going on. Hope to talk to you all soon!

    Hi Cathy,
Sorry to hear you are back in the hospital.....I had a feeling something was up....you haven't been posting like you usually do.
It goes without saying we are saying extra prayers for you and your husband. Praying you get rid of this infection and they figure out what is causing it. Both you and your husband have been through *ell. Praying it all turns around soon.
    Take care and stay strong.

    warms greetings from Canada!!!
    Hi Cathy!!
I just saw on your site that you are in the hospital... Its just a minor setbat!! I am thinking its the same problems as with my brother. The gallbladder overworks, and you are not getting any food for it to work properly,. You likely had an infection, but with antibiotics, fluids, rest and of course as I always say, the guardian angels are all working overtime for everyone here and all you have to do is ask.....
Cathy, if there is anything you would like for me to do, please as I mentioned in Rochester, just ask...I pray for a speedy recovery and that you continue to encourage and give hope to so many people here on this site and for many others that you have met and touched... Keep smiling, email me, you know where to find me....
ps,,, my brother is home with his family, has some pain and nausea but tolerable,
    keep in touch!!

    Hi there,
I am really sorry you are having to endure so much pain and suffering. My heart breaks thinking about you and how young and wonderful you are. You somehow find the will and strenghth to type to us out here in cyberville. You are such a sweet wonderful angel. I know you are doing all you can and those around you are too. Bless Patrick's heart for being your hero and you are his, never forget that. : )
I know I don't post on here much anymore, my friend who has cancer as you know, has pushed me away and we are only talking during working hours. I am very respectful of his boundries and don't call or text him anymore unless it is business related. So, there is not really anything for me to post.
But, I come on site and read almost everyday, I care so much about you and everyone on here, and want all you to be healed, healthy.
You are the picture of grace underfire Cathy, please take care and rest and let your dreams take you out of the ICU and into a beautiful place. Your body will respond to the vibes of beauty. Sounds kooky I know, but its all i got since I am helpless to do anything more.
Love and healing energy to you
May all the angels surround you and take your illness away and heal your body.

Blessings to you and your family,

    Terry

    Not looking so
    Not looking so good.....
there's blockage at the bottom of my stomach and in my small intestines that is causing the bile to backup. They are doing an endoscopy tomorrow to see if they can do a stent or what they can do. As of now, I can't go back to any further treatments unless I get strong again, at this point they're saying it's not so good.

    warm greetings from Canada!!
    Hi Cathy!!

I am saying prayers for you from Cold Canada now, my brother had the same thing, they found no blockage, just a dysfunctional gall bladder, he need a drainage in his gall bladder... the way they went around all this was a jejunostomy feeding tube in order to stop the dysfunctional bowel and vomitting, you may need an MRI of the abodomen,to see if there really is a blockage, many times it is a false blockage ....... I wish I could be there for you, but I am mentally and spiritually for you,,,, if you can, write to me, I will try to help as much as I can.

Thanks for all your help...I've had x-rays and everything this morning, and will have an endoscopy later on today. They've already explained that there could be a "false" blockage, I guess it's just a time will tell thing at this point, just have to get all the tests done. They haven't mentioned an MRI, if they don't figure it out without one, I will definitely be mentioning it. thanks!

My dad an what was called
My dad an what was called Ileus, which is like a fake blockage. It went away on it's own. I'm hoping that's all this is for you!!! Also, have them check your gall bladder. My gall bladder went bad several years ago. I was VERY sick, lost 40 pounds and they couldn't figure it out. Finally they did a test and found that my gall bladder just totally stopped working and it was poisoning me. It was awful!!! My thoughts and prayers are with you for a speedy recovery here!!!

    Take care!!!
