    I'm Home
Hi everyone, I am at home and resting, some pain/discomfort, but doing well. My surgeon left the old ostomy site opena nd packed with a wet to dry dressing until friday and then he will stitch it together. He said this will prevernt any infection since this area is at high risk of developing a infection. since both me and my husband are nurses, we can take care of it at home, he will do he packing for me once a day till friday.. I still keep feeling for the ileostomy, weird not having it there. I only had it for 3 1/2 mths, but that felt like a lifetime. I haven't had any incontinence, passed some stool with no problem, so things are working well so far. Thanks for all the well wishes... You are all my idols.. Petrina

wow I think that is great
wow I think that is great you are home already and doing so well. Seriously, I was in 6 days with my takedown. Could not get my colon to MOVE, slower than anything. I think my surgeon must overly manipulate the colon or something, she said about a week in is standard. I agree it is a strange to be without the bag- but you will get used to the new normal in no time :)

How are you doing ? I had my reversal Oct.5 2009. Back in hospital for c-diff infection on Oct 19... I am doing much better now (and very glad to be home again ) I do have 8-10 bm's a day though and am very sore down there. I had my ileostomy for 8 months and DO not miss it ! I am hoping things start to improve soon. The doc said it can take a few months for my j-pouch to learn to function as a colon.. Am wondering how you are. Beth
