Hi,
Came home this morning, very tired and wiped out, hope I get my mojo back after I sleep a night at home. Did not have too bad a time except for food getting stuck where my tumor is and it finally resolved and some bad nausea but compared to my heroine, Kitten, I had a walk in the park. Trying to get my hopes back up, hate the thought of going back in 3 wks. The good thing is every nurse that walked in told me what a wonderful dr I had for my chemo oncologist so that was heartening. My family and friends have been wonderful giving me support and helping me and Ron thru this first phase. I thought of all of you and prayed esp for Mike wild turkey and Kitten and all of the esophageal ca board. thanks for your encouragement and prayers,
Donna70

    Chemo
    Donna,

I hope you get some well deserved rest and that you feel better after that. I am being told I get to go home tomorrow!! I am looking forward to being at my own home, but will also miss all the assistance I get at the hospital, now it's all on my own. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers, it's greatly appreciated!

    Nothing like home
    Donna,

You will be tired after Chemo, Jeff always was, especially the second week after chemo. You have started the process, and you still have a ways to go but looking back to our chemos I am so glad we had it done. As the doctor told us, eat very soft food, fish and chicken is the easiest as it digests better, any other kind is hard to digest. Lots of steamed vegetables too (the kind in the freezer bag works) you just pop in microwave and it steams them. I know you can do this and before you know it you will be where Jeff is today. He still has his days and he tires easily but the appitite comes back, and so does the hair. We go for a pet scan on Oct 1 to make sure nothing has come back since surgery. I pray it hasn't.
You tell RON i am also a caregiver and its not an easy road but as William and Loretta Marshall says when one gets diagnosed with Cancer we both have it. Whe you get down and depressed just look around on the board and think of our KITTEN our heroine and know we don't have it as bad as we think we do.

If you need to vent or ask any questions please let me know. I am here and we are still recouping from surgery.

    GOD BLESS and take care

Nothing like home says it all!! my big girl panties fell off yesterday for a time but I am trying to get them back on. hard to think of going back and know the 3 wks will fly by. All of you are pushing me on and just the thought of what Kitten has to deal with is enough to make anyone stop whining. I am going to drive myself to radiation some of this week and I tried to drink some Red Bull to see if that would help wake me up but blah!!! that stuff tastes horrible!! guess it will be my version of expresso. Feel a lot better since I got more than 2 hrs of sleep connected. Hoping your scan will be all clear Jeff and keep telling myself all of these people have done it, I can do it too, sort of like the little Engine that could!! Ron has been really great but says he knows that this is just the beginning. He told the nurses yesterday, "But she was supposed to take care of me.!!" It got some laughs. thanks again, I will be probably asking more questions as stuff happens. thanks for those prayers and they are coming for all on the board!!

Chemo Continues, But I'm Back After Week 1
    Donna

I've already received my tongue in cheek admonishment for being late with my week 1 post from our friend William.

We are at the same place in our lives. I have given up even semi-solid food for the time being and don't have any nausea. I did go into hard flame out Saturday afternoon and just slept. Got up for about 2 hours and then went directly to bed. Getting ready to go to radiation today and then a few light errands.

It is a true blessing for those of us starting this journey that we have friends with the wealth of experience and knowledge like William and Loretta. People like Moe (Lori) and Kitten (Cathy) give me views of 2 sides of things and inspire me. My wife, Lori, is just now slowly and grudgingly starting to recognize my fight with this scourge.

My best wishes to you and everyone on this board.

    As Dorothy Would say
There is no place like home. Al and I are lucky we only have to travel about 20 minutes to get to Hillman, so he got to sleep in his bed all the time except for the those few days he had to spend in the hospital. I have to say Donna if the nurses say that you have
good Dr.s then It must be true or they just don't say anything at all. I'm glad your home and in good sprits. Hope your chemo goes well not everyone gets all the symptoms. Just take it easy and try and eat all of the soft high carb high cal foods that the rest of us can not because our butts would be as big as a house.

    Keep in touch
    God Bless
