Greetings All,

I hope everyone is doing well, under these circumstances. I am Mike, the 'Wild Goose7' and was diagnosed with squamous cell cancer above the nipple line. I am being aggressive with my treatment process and ask a ton of questions of the doctors.

I've given the doctors a 'curve ball' because of my 29 years in the military dealing with high power electronics and ionizing radiation, with the major impacts from engineering studies on the thorax. I'm still getting more information, but I have had some friends succumb to various cancers, and they all had the same career paths.

I went through the remorse, denial phases of a cancer diagnosis in the blink of an eye. I'm in the hardover VICTORY MODE! Whatever it takes! And I used to be a collateral duty crisis counsellor!

My wife thinks that I can still work 10-12 hours each day, but I'm getting physically and very slowly weaker. I am anemic and have lost 35 pounds in 2.5 months- not the preferred means to loose weight. I live on Ensure, applesauce and ice cream.

I am an ardent deer, wild turkey and wild boar hunter, and recognize that that is off for this year.

My prayer for you all: "Dear God, Our Heavenly Father, Bless those afflicted with insidious disease. May Your Divine Grace protect them and help them to regain a full life for You. Amen.

Mike the 'Wild Goose7' sends along with my sailor's wish, "Fair Winds and Following Seas."

    Welcome Goose (Mike)
    Hi,

Although I do not have cancer my husband does. He has stage 4 esophageal cancer and is operable with some tumor shrinkage.

You seem in good spirits for some recently diagnosed with cancer and that is a good thing.

This is a great site for support and information. some of the people on this site are very informative, and as a caregiver to someone with this horrible disease I truely do not know what I would have done if I hadn't found the wonderful people on this site to help me.

    Welcome again!

    Hi MIke,

I am a caregiver, my husband was diagnosed with esophogeal cancer on April Fools day, we had 3 rounds of hard chemo before surgery, and hasn't worked since April 2, cancer does not run in the family, then we had surgery on july 23, and was in hospital 20 days I doubt you will be able to work like you use too, my husband worked 50-60 hours a week either a work or at home, and he cant do that no more. Your wife has to understand that life changes when you are diagnosed with this word named "CANCER". It sounds like she might be in the denial stage, if so she needs to wake up, its not an easy road but help is out there.

I am glad you found this site, we all post something daily and there is also a chat room you can join in at anytime.

If I can help let me know.

Sorry to have to meet you in here!!! This is a great site with wonderful people!! My father is battling stage 3 esophageal cancer, adenocarinoma. He's currently in a clinical study in Pittsburgh, PA at the Hillman Cancer Center. Hopefully he'll be able to have his surgery by the end of the year, God willing!! This site has been so much help to me. I learned a great deal from everyone here and found the perfect Drs. for my father's situation!! I wish you the best. Your wife could find a lot of support on this site too. Take Care!!
