    What a yucky ride....:(
Wow Shayenne, you have been through it. I totally feel for you...I am soo glad you are better and received treatment.

I followed all the things you are about trying to not catch things. It worked for me, never was sick on chemo. I did stay in alot too, and my kids are homeschooled so we weren't around too many kids. But here is one tip i wanted to offer. My onc would not let me have a manicure or pedicure while on treatment. I wasn't happy about that, but I obeyed. Now after treatment, I have had two and the second one I was cut about three times. It didn't get infected, but bled and has been sore. So, just thought I would advise to stay away from that as well, could be a potential problem.

Good luck recovering form this treatment.

    Thank you!
Wow~ you can't get your nails done?? I hadn't even heard of that, but that is a good tip, I don't ever use a nail cutter myself, and got rid of my acrylic nails, but I do file alot, and like them polished, that's for sure, thanks for that, I didn't mind a manicure now and then, but they scare me sometimes because they do it quite fast at times, where I felt like they were going to cut me. I go out a few times for fresh air with my kids, and try to avoid the public places, when I go to the mall, I have napkins I use to touch doorknobs, sanitizers to clean a table before we eat on it (i must look like a noob for doing this, you should see some of the people that I can tell actually are giggling at me for it, especially teens) and I don't care, I clean down the grocery carts, and wear gloves in the supermarket, so if I handle something, it won't be with my bare hands. People must think I'm such a germophobe, but you have to be with this condition, so when others stare at me and give some weird looks to their friends, I just shrug them off, they just don't understand, and sometimes I feel like going up to them and saying "Look, I'm on chemo, I am susceptible to germs, since my immune system is so low" just to see if they'd feel stupid...

Just wait when I'll still be wearing gloves in the summer, I'll be getting some doozy of the looks! LOL

Thanks for the luck, they're giving me a Neurolasta shot on Saturday to even boost the WBC and help in the recovery.

    Hugss to you!

Must be how they 'say it'.
    Normal Results

4,500-10,000 white blood cells/mcL (cells per microliter). It also says Medicine.net: There are different types of white blood cells, including neutrophils (polymorphonuclear leukocytes; PMNs), band cells (slightly immature neutrophils), T-type lymphocytes (T cells), B-type lymphocytes (B cells), monocytes, eosinophils, and basophils. All the types of white blood cells are reflected in the white blood cell count. The normal range for the white blood cell count varies between laboratories but is usually between 4,300 and 10,800 cells per cubic millimeter of blood. This can also be referred to as the leukocyte count and can be expressed in international units as 4.3 - 10.8 x 109 cells per liter.

Maybe our doctors were talking about only one portion of the test. Eosinophils are the cells that react during an allergic reaction. Maybe they were talking about mature and specific white cells.

Praying for all our semi colon friends today!

    Manicures etc
Yep, My onc also said no manicures...I used to have acrylic nails (my own are so poor) and he said it was just a "hotbed for bacteria" under that acrylic. And no matter how clean, sanitized, ect the spa is, you are still sharing the instruments with all the other customers. Why take the chance? I took it hard - my nails were my vanity after all! But you know what? Once I started chemo/radiation, the last thing I wanted to do was sit at that table and be clipped, polished and buffed! I will get my nails back once I finish my final mop-up chemo.

I do miss my pedicures though...more for the leg and foot massages than anything else.

    Yes...
In looking at my lab report, they have it where the counts should fall between these numbers...like for example:

WBC 4.8 [4.5-11.0} L which means low, and this is where she is sending me to come back on Saturday to get a Neulasta shot, to help my bone marrow work harder to produce more WBC.

    Hemoglobin 12.9 {11.7-15.5]
    RBC 5.41 [3.8-5.1]

and so on...those basophils, and eosinphils and all that confuse me, I don't know what all those are, and grans absolute? I have to searching the internet for all this other stuff lol..I'm still learning about all this stuff...

I am praying for all here as well!

Hugssss and will check out your blog!

    I'm weird like that...
...I think I have some kind of foot phobia!! I hate feet, so I never let anyone touch mine, and I will not touch anyone else, they just gross me out, Especially when my hubby in the recliner, and I can see the bottom of his feet, I don't like looking at it, so I throw a blanket over it, I would never get pedicures because of that either, but I did like manicures..I know I'm whacked LOL!!

    Me too!
I was freaked out the first time I had a pedicure done, but I got over the weirdness! Having somebody work on my feet keeps ME from having to do it! ;) Besides, since they do it for a living, they are over the whole "disgusting, it's somebody's FOOT" thing!
