Hi Everyone, I just got the result of my Ct-Scan. I have a tumor on the top of my vagina. My CA-125 went from 34 to 50.6 in a few weeks. I guess my CA 125 is a good indicator something is wrong. The Onc where I get my chemo made a appointment immediately to see my GYN/ONC in Lehigh Valley for Tuesday. My Onc up where I live said he thinks that surgery or radiation should be considered but it up to my GYN/ONC. He did my surgery for me. I'm so upset I don't know what to do. If you haven't met me I'm a stage 3C and I've had 8 treatments of carbo/taxol and 5 treatments of Doxil. I guess I will never see remission, I don't think it's in my cards. I thank God everyday that I'm alive. There are days I have conversations with him to please heal me so I can see my grandchildren grow up.

Hugs and Prayers, Terry

    God's morning to you Terry,

I am sorry to hear your latest news, but remember I am here 6yrs now and never a remission. If that is the only cancer growth you have they may very likely do radiation and/or a different chemo. I am lifting you in prayer. Buckets of Teal Hugs ♥ Prayers Bonnie

I love that scripture, Terry. And I am blessed by your post this morning. Your strength, courage, faith and hope are an inspiration to me, and a confirmation that the Lord will see you through this. This kind of news is never easy to hear, but once we get beyond that we know there is hope and options, and that you will get through this.

    Keep us up-to-date.

    Prayers to You
I hope it will turn around for you Terry. Like Bonnie I am almost a 7 year survivor. I have had breaks but they are fewer then the beginning. Ususally 2 to 4 months, now almost another complete year of chemo. But everyone is different and you may have good news of a complete turn around. My prayers are with you.
    Prayers and Hugs to all

You are such a fighter to have stood all that chemo. If the one tumor is all there is, that is positive I would think. Mine were many and scattered like a shotgun blast. By the way, that verse is my favorite too!
Don't stop for depression, this is just another hurdle in the road and you will be victorious. You are not alone, as we are all praying and pulling for you. Isaiah 40.29 "He strengthens those who are weak and tired." (((Hugs and prayers))) Saundra

sorry you are going through it
Hi Terry, it is encourageing that there are others that make it through and who knows maybe the next chemo or thing they try will get it. and if we have to keep muddleing through chemos for a while maybe the cure is just around the corner for us all. I am just going to keep praying and smiling as much as I can. no time for being depressed we have to much living to do. God bless and teal hugs , Love Laura

    Hang in there
I am so sorry to hear your news Terry. I know you are probably not only depressed, but scared, tired, worried, and just plain down. Why wouldn't you be? I KNOW you don't wish to be these things - but you just got some rotten news and it's NORMAL to feel that way. So deal with the bump in the road as your husband says and look forward to tomorrow because it is another day - a chance to start anew.

Please let us know what you find out and I will be thinking of you and sending good thoughts your ways.

    Hugs -

    Kris

HiI am  new to the site.  My prayers are with you. I was told in August 2006 that I had stage 4 cancer. I am on my third round of chemo and I will never be in total remission.  The chemo just keeps the cancer in check.  When I am through with my sessions of chemo I live my life to the fullest for the next 5 0r 6 months.  I also have grandchildren, 6, and I hope I can be here to see all of them graduate from high school. One graduated last year so I have 5 to go.

You have a good positive attitude. I have been taking chemo off and on for almost 7 years and thats what I do. Take chemo awhile then take a break. You never know though maybe you will be in a long remission. Only God knows the answers. But I am glad you have a good Positive attitude thats what gets you through this. I am taking chemo now and its keeping me weak this time but to me that means its working. It sounds like you will be here to watch your grandchildren graduate. Again WELCOME!

I'm Stage IV too and have 6 grandchildren. Two are out of H.S. so we have a lot in common. I am sort of in remission and on the anti estrogen pill to hold the tumor growth back for the last 6 months. That gave me a chemo break for which I am really grateful. (((Hugs)))

My cancer also returned on the vaginal cuff... I had never heard of that before. I had surgery and have been on chemo ever since. In Sept I had a bowel obstruction and when they did surgery for that, they also saw cancer. so I am now on Hexalen an oral chemo. My ca-125 went from 240 to 177 after my 2nd cycle so that is very good.

God Bless you and good luck,

    vaginal cuff
Hey Jan, glad to read the wonderful drop in ca125. Also just wanted to chime in that it is pretty common to have ovarian cancer on vaginal cuff or even vaginal wall. Unfortunately.

Never heard of spread to vaginal cuff until read it on here
I never heard of ovarian cancer spreading to vaginal cuff until recently. Oct. I had an abnormal pap and also in Jan. So I will be re-tested in May. Now I know why they are concerned although I've heard abnormal paptests are quite common, even among those who never had cancer. My sister had two abnormal tests and nothing came of it. Sometimes it is just a sign of irritation or infection. At the doctor's office they don't say much about it to me and I find most of my info about it on here. I couldn't find anything on the internet for someone who had ovarian cancer. I've had spotting for 2 years and they never seemed concerned until I kept bringing up the subject and they decided to give me another paptest instead of just the once a year one. I just figured it was due to irritation, which hasn't been ruled out. But I am starting to see a gradual return of some of the symptoms I had prior to being diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Not enough to be overly concerned but enough to be paranoid just a bit. However, my last CA-125 in Jan. was ok so they didn't start bringing out the tests.

Is vaginal cuff internal radiation a part of treatment for OVC?
Spread to the vaginal cuff is really common in my cancer, too (Uterine Papillary Serous Carcinoma). For that reason internal vaginal radiation is a part of the initial treatment following surgery, along with the 6 rounds of taxol/carboplatin. I was wondering if bracy radiation is also common for OVC, for that reason. (UPSC and OVC are so similar and treated with the same chemo schedule/drugs and measured with CT-scans and CA-125s just like OVC.)

    Never heard either
I had never heard of spread to vaginal cuff and I have not had a pap since my surgery last April 11th 2008.....think I will check with my Dr.
Dreamdove, I like your new picture.
Bonnie, Glad you are "hanging in there" you are "the chick that sticks".....don't know what we would do without your good info.
Laura, Hope all is going well with new chemo.
I am in Maui on vacation...I feel so grateful to be able to be here and alive. It feels so good to be in the sun....it has been a long winter.
